Ryoken II is 75 tons. It's big, but roughly in scale with 'Mechs in the base set. (See Atlas -- 100 tons, taller than Ryoken II, thought Jupiter was a bit scrawny).
I think that they just try to adapt whenever the actual scale would make units too large/small -- some Battle Armor is particularly vast (Fenrir, Fa Shih) compared to "human size"; some vehicles are conspicuously small (3-capacity transports, just as an example) and some 'Mechs are totally the wrong size (piddly small Mad Cat II -- not to mention shaped like a TimberWolf -- and gigantic Cougar and Legionnaire).
I know it's not deliberate, but it reminds me of the NLIPS (non-linear inverse-perspective scaling) used in Homeworld 2 so that fighters are still visible despite being much smaller than Capships. (However, HW2 can turn it off. Maybe Warcraft III's cartoony style is a better example.)
hey, on the note of liao crushing SS, what if they eliminate SS? what will give us a chance to get full on DAVION as a faction, using the same paintscheme, and maybe markings, so they can be in formation! yes, pure, unfounded speculation, but still!
TeddySlayer86 seems to be talking about the Swordsworn Sphinx (try saying that 10 times without slipping). The Spirit Cat Sphinx (Deleportas) is far more badass -- having 5 attacks for 6 damage, a 4-click rapid-strike melee, 22 def (heavy) and 10 attack.
What if the poster refers to the highlander trilogy that has been going on. I think it makes sense, the SW Kodiak is kicking what LOOKS like a HL Something, maybe valient. The Drop Ship could represent the Wolves landing on Terra, which is where they seemed to be heading after book 2 of the trilogy.
Even the tag line "Who Started It Doesn't Matter Anymore" makes sense then. It could refer to the running grudge between the HL and SW, which comes from a running fight between Campbell and Radick no one will admit starting and is now so bad both sides just want to kill the other, screw the reasons.
So maybe the storyline is going to break into several side stories for the next while. To one side, we have the SS and ROTS fighting off a hugh push by Liao and simultaneously we have some kind of raging grudge match between HL and SW.
That just leaves SC and DF, and maybe they just go at each other for the hell of it, to make things even. Some fluff about a souring of the quasi-hinted at alliance, and there you go. Mindless, vicious fighting.
This lets Wizkids rotate in every faction with the smaller scenarios, and gives people seomthing to focus on. Every month you have one fight in each of the three grudges, and the last week is just random, maybe the juniors tournament or somehing.
