Ummm, guys, that amazon thing could be old FUD. Or WK could be stuck under contract. Even if it isn't I think there is a real good possibility that Delrio will have noticed the... lambasting... thier earlier trilogy elicited (I'm assuming all 3 were finished before feedback could do anything constructive) and will rectify many of the problems in this new book. At least I hope they will.
See JillStub's post over at the CBT.com forums. She gave us the listing from a publishers' catalog.
Basically, the new novel is titled The Scorpion Jar and concerns political wrangling around the election of a new Exarch. Jonah Levin and Heather GioAvanti are major characters.
Note that this means we'll likely finally get a listing of all the Paladins.
Originally posted by Maraduer As long as we don't see any combat, it won't be that bad. But if Levin has Solitaire doing 'Mech-fu, heads are gonna roll.
And now, Paladin Jonah Levin will execute the infamous BTH!
(Boot to The Head!) manuver. :p
(Looking up and appealing to the heavens)
Why, oh why, did Paladin Jonah Levin's first appearance in an MW
novel have to be written by Del Rio?!

CBT:
As the smoke cleared, he saw that his opponent's Black Hawk had suffered severe armor damage and had lost its left arm, but the medium lasers in its right were still online and it was already beginning to get a target lock on his Atlas. "#### it," he said to himself as he looked at his damage read-out. His SRM launchers had been disabled in that last attack from previous fighting and his lasers and Gauss rifle were still in cycling. "No choice, time to see if these claws do anything besides look pretty," Jonah said to himself as he charged his massive assault 'Mech toward the 50 ton Clan OmniMech. Jonah plowed one of his Atlas's massive claws right into the Black Hawk's left torso. The sheer force of the physical assault knocked the Black Hawk backward, the pilot too shocked at the sight of the charging Atlas to even fire a shot. As the Black Hawk fell back, Jonah brought his lasers to bare and let loose. The twin beams of energy connecting the two machines for a split second, one connecting Solidtude's right arm with the Black Hawk's cockpit. This is what happens to traitors of the Republic Jonah thought as he watched the smoking ruin of the once proud war machine.

As Jonah drew closer, the Black Hawk fired 6 of its 12 medium lasers. Only two of the lasers hit as Jonah ducked his 100-ton charging war machine under the the OmniMech's fire. Having now closed in on the Clan 'Mech, Jonah brought up his right claw in an uppercut, catching the Black Hawk right under the cockpit. As the Black Hawk fell back, Jonah dashed his Atlas forward and transfered into a flying jump kick, planting the Atlas's foot right into the Black Hawk's cockpit, killing the pilot instantly. All I can say is if that's really how Del Rio writes, I'm extra
thankful I didn't waste my money on that drivel! I feel sorry
for those who did. :ermm:
People who didn't enjoy the Delrio trilogy have no sense of tastes.
The books were good. For an author duo who had never written a Battletech book, the trilogy was a great read. Sure, some of the mechanics may have been interpreted differently than they were by Stackpole or Coleman, but these writers were new. The Dark Age universe is about a new perspective, and brining in new authors offers up that new perspective. The pair that make up Delrio are talented authors who have an excellent grasp of characters and how to tell a good story.
About Terra not having any Republic forces on planet, that is false. Anastasia Kerensky had a personal vendetta against Tara Cambpell, and thus went straight for her forces before going anywhere else. It just so happens that the Highlanders managed to fight off that contingent of Wolves and win the planet. In By Temptations and By War, it is pointed out during Ritter Michaelson's (Ezekiel Crow's) descent towards Liao that there was fighting elsewhere on Terra involving the Hastati Sentinels.
