I think that the Java Pulse Generator franchises are going to finally reveal all of their hidden caffeen powered mechs and they will be the new faction.

my guess is that it might be a few things, 1 it could be a new formed faction originating from the republic armed forces (sort of rebels perhaps)

or a new clan that is the result of some merger perhaps? anyways they have access to highlevel clantech, or are good friends with CSF. its hard to make a definate guess since both sculpts dont give much away.

and as mentioned they havent appeared in any story or whatsoever.

who knows its a competitor who will join the fight against KU/NC and help the RotS, or be an enemy of the RD following them into the IS.

guess all we can do is wait until they announce it, or its their joke that it is clan wolf and want to see us speculate and make random guesses etc.

They might be WiE as many expect the color seem look a like SW.

i didnt see a redbase, but the list does contain 1 ultra rare, so who knows we will see another familiar faction next to RD and the mystery one. who knows that will be Wolf (i mean lets face its the last of the old group that hasnt been absorbed to its parent group.

The Nexus mech was originally based on a mech called the Jackrabbit in flavor text. Not that much of a difference.

Be glad there's already a mech called the Penetrator out there. :p

Ravenankh and Istal_Devalis demonstrate mystic caste skills. It was indeed this reference to the Jackrabbit that helped bring about a Jackalope. Though I submit my sense of humor is just fine, what with a Penetrator running amok and all. :p

All true. Also, the Finnish used to never use the word, for fear that speaking it would, in turn, bring about a bear. So they took to many varied ways of referring to the hulking forest beast without using its proper name.

I was thinking about the mystery faction last night. The two factions that WizKids invented that had no link to the old CBT story are focused around charismatic leaders: the Raiders around Bannson, the Republic around Stone. In fact, even the splinter factions have their leaders: Tormark for the Fury, Campbell for the Highlanders, etc.

Given that this theme will likely continue with the new faction, what charismatic leaders have we seen in the fiction lately that could potentially lead their own group? Bounty Hunter (though not really charismatic)? Captain Josef Yoland, the BR guy from Heretic's Faith that is now on his own? The rebellious senator-leader from Sword of Sedition, or the Davion champion that is now in opposition to the Prince of the Federated Suns?

Or how about Devlin Stone returning with a cadre of elite warriors?

Lots of possibilities.

Another possibility: the guy who hacked into Jonah Levin's computer in "Scorpion Jar," who promised revenge on the Republic. This could have been a Senator or ally - or someone else entirely . . .

give this unit an order and cool down 1 heat from target mech, or make an attack roll for heat, 1-2 cool 1 down, 3-5 cool down 2 and 6 cool down 3 heat.?
perhaps even take one pushing damage and cool down target mech
would be weird to have 2 hit the defense value

The mystery faction color is metallic grey with red.

The Kell Hounds are black and red.
The Wolf's Dragoons are white and red.
The Steel Wolves are metallic.
Wolf in Exile is flat grey (according to fiction).

The new faction is called "Wolf Hunters" and is an alliance of all factions from Arc Royal (where the Steel Wolves have retreated to and the other three factions are based).

Somehow I think "Annihilation" refers to a Trial of Annihilation and some Clan's getting uppity about something.
