I can't believe no else has thought of it (I totally missed it at first), the founder of the Republic and Savior from the Blakist Jihad - Devlin Stone.
A historical pilot does not necessarily have to use the original mech he was in the novels, much like Phelan Ward's "Vengeance" Solitaire. Production reasons going to override faithfulness to the fiction. You might as well pick a historical pilot and fill in what mech you want him to be based on existing sculpts or a dream mech of your own.
I like to see Kai Allard Liao. Since Yen Lo Wang has already been taken up by Danai and would come out in Vanguard, he needs something else. A Hatchetman in Liao colors or better yet, an axe wielding Tsi-Tsang.
Personally (and this coming from someone who has barely dabbled in pre-Dark Age Battletech fiction), I think they should do Aleksandr Kerensky. Get really historical.
Personally, I would love that, but would not have the gall to ask for it :-)
Great idea! General Aleksandr Kerensky in a mech similar to his old Orion.
Perhaps they should put Kai Allard-Liao in the Stormcrow he used during the Great Refusal between the Inner Sphere and the Clans (when he rode with the 1st St. Ives Lancers against Clan Wolf). That would be an interesting choice for a historical 'Mech. Perhaps we can see Khan Vlad Ward aboard a Lobo as well (a very nasty short-intermediate ranged Medium).
Perhaps we can see Katherine Steiner-Davion in either a Hauptmann or a Fafnir (two assualt designs that were deployed to her units in the FedCom Civil war).
Peter Steiner-Davion
Daniel Allard
Tancred Sandoval
Hohiro Kurita
Nondi Steiner
Hanse Davion
Archer Chrisofori
Morgan Kell
Aldo Lestrade
Jaime Wolf
Natasha Karensky
Ulric Karensky
Lincoln Osis
Aidan Pryde
Marthe Pryde
Vlad Ward
And way, way, way, way too many others to even begin to name.
I fully support them in their "classic" Mechs, as opposed to some new fangled Mech they woulldn't pilot. Like Phelan not being in his Wolfhound. Or Julian not being in his Templar.
I would like to see historical mechs from factions that just will never see the light of day. Some of the Home Clans, or the periphery. Marik maybe? :p
As long as we're on the subject of possible historical mechs from factions that everyone hates, how about Sarah McEvedy or Franklin Hallis, Khans of the Not-Named at the time of their Annihilation. Might be cool to see them around, they are very important and infamous figures in Clan history. I can't remember what kind of mechs either of them piloted, but it would be cool none the less. :speechles
