They know what they are doing. They will make lots of money which is the point. I just like people that are good at MK, and with all these games, it is drawing MK players to other things.

Lets see, we have no expansions for Mechwarrior since it's release. There are, as well, no expansions for DC HeroClix. Marvel HeroClix finally got one expansion. Then there is Mage Knight, which has how many expansions now? And how many years between expansions must we wait for new figures?
Guess you don't keep up on the other systems from Wizkids? Mechwarrior gets a new expansion in 2 days and another expansion in May. Heroclix got Clobberin Time and will get Xplosion in the next month. DC gets a new expansion in June...which really can be arguably called the 5th expansion for Heroclix since we have had Infinity challenge, Hypertime, Clobberin Time and will have Xplosion by then. Then, throw in the Indyclix heroclix game and you have 6 expansions in about a year or so.
What I see happening is a loss of player base in all the games, though, as you don't have as much fresh blood coming into the games. With the introduction of more and more Wizkids games, they're basically pilfering their own customers for the other games. We've had quite a few players go from MageKnight to Heroclix and now to Mechwarrior. And, they're talking about moving onto Crimson skies when that comes out... Its a lesson GW had to learn early on as they released more games. They didn't bring in as many "new" customers for those games but merely diverted players from WHFB and WH40K.

Doom and gloom that is all that comes out of these threads. If all you people want to do is try and predict the downfall of this game then please end your apocalyptic rantings and quite playing. These are the same sentiments going around about Magic TG when I played that 4-5 yrs ago and it still seems to be going strong! The negativity is doing as much harm to the spirit of the game as uber range has done (yes thats right AD, Corphy and the like need to be toned down but the rules changes should fix that).
Same game as it's always been... Same Whining as any other game... same complaining about product when I bet you own 9/10 of what you're complaining about...
Anybody stop to think that too many people post to this board for MK to be dying!? Hell, there's more drama on these boards than a freakin soap opera... I just hope Crimson Skies isn't Mech Warrior's baby... MW and MK are such a cute couple... It's probably Creepy Freaks doing! :D

This implies that something is wrong with MK in the first place and that's why WK is making new games! I mean Hasbro made GI Joe and that was successful. They didn't start making Transformers because GI Joe was dying (though it did fade away for awhile). They didn't turn down buying the Star Wars license because they already had other successful games! They didn't refuse to buy WOTC including D&D and MTG because they were doing okay without them... No. They expanded. You see, when you compete with yourself for the market you can't loose! All the money goes to the same place...
I guess all I can really say is that Wizkids is expanding very rapidly. This we all agree on. Is it harmful to MK? I don't know, but I talked to a couple of guys at a local gameing venue as they watched an MK tourney. They thought it was really cool and were interested in starting in the game. I've talked to a couple of other guys who were really interested in Crimson Skies. These two had never played a clix based game before, only CCGs. There have been several new players for MW at the local venue. So while Wizkids is putting out a lot of stuff, I have also seen several people who are interested in learning the various games. And they are not being pulled away from MK or any other Wizkids games, they are new to them.
I can understand the concerns of a lot of people, but Wizkids is evolving and so are their games. Rules changes will help address some of the problems. I guess the bottom line is, IMHO, Wizkids is, overall, doing a good job with their games and people need to have a little faith in the company. I'm guessing that they aren't going to run MK into the ground, but are trying to enhance and improve the game to make it more enjoyable for all players for a long time to come.
I think Wizkids is making a similar response to what WOTC did when Magic came out. It got big fast, then stayed big. They put out a number of other CCG's (as did everybody else). Eventually all but a very few CCG's died. Magic remained because it had the largest fanbase, but also because they've learned to keep it variable.
I'm not concerned about MK as long as they keep an eye on play balance while simultaneously introducing new wrinkles into the game, as WOTC is doing with magic. WarHammer has been around for YEARS with a much higher cost of entry and not nearly as good rules. And Battletech has been around for about as long, and both of them had a niche.
It occurred to me. It is pretty hard to find Sinister on the shelves anymore. If you can find it at all. I can't believe it's because sinister had such a short modelling run. So that is selling pretty well. How is minions selling?
I think each set has the same number of boosters made at a limited number, with the exception of UL. The problem is that there are now more players caising sets to sell out more quickly, I don't know if the production runs are smaller, they may be, but I think the main problem is more player means less boosters per player.

Everything except pyramids and unlimited is retired. Sinister sold out cuz of the horseman contest. I know of 3 people and myself who bought a case of sinister because of the contest, but not much of any other expansion.
first, the orange juice analogy was not about releasing new games, it was about releasing new power pieces (Amazon Drac, etc) to counter older, broken pieces (corpheus). Thus, to beat old Crack, you needed new Crack.
And tactics and strategy went bye-bye.
As for Warhammer 40k, I like it. There are no "#### boosters." No randomness. I've gotten boosters with nothing but Necro Sect or Orc Raiders (neither of which I play). That's 7 bucks burned. If I want 2 40 k snipers, I spend my 8 buncks, and I GET my two snipers. And then -I- paint them, they look how -I- think they should look, and -my- army has a coherent theme and no one else can argue that it's not mine. Further, there is none of this mixing and matching (Necros and League? Rebels and Guild? PLEASE), when you field a SPace Marine army, you field space marines. Period. You can field alliances, but they have separate command structures and organizations.
And finally, While there are only 9 or so armies in Warhammer, there is a variety of troops within those armies, and no two people will create the same type of army given those options (and I'm discounting the sub-codices). The result is that they don't HAVE to create multiple expansions, having to constantly one-up themselves with uber-mega-powerful units; they can simply alter the rules for this particular army, playtest it to make sure it's balanced, and toss it into the game. Since the rules are bound up in the rulebook and the codices, and capable of being altered, they don't have the same intrinsic limitations of mage knight (EVERY piece in the game is bound by the same rules, with generic SAs being handed out as makes halfway-sense).
Too many games for you to play. I agree, but the emphisis is on the YOU in that sentence. There are 1000's of people across the country that will start playing "click" games because they think air combat is cool. The 1st thing the buy from WK will be Crimson Skies.
I am not one of those people, but they are out there, and there is a segment of people for each of these games.
Initially it might draw people away from MK, as they try the other games, but eventually it will bring more people into the "click" genre and many of them may cross over into the original game of MK.
Personaly, I have a great tackle box that I can fit the starters boxes of all of the Wizkids games into, with room for trades, maps and stuff....it is a surprisingly small box. I can fit two or three different "armies" into each box. I meet my firends for "clicky games", and we play whatever we are in the mood for.
I do not think that the diversity of Wizkids LLC will kill Mage Knight, but sometimes I wish they would retire the line, as there are MORE than enough figures to play with for the rest of our lives. :)
WK can keep MK from fading away by doing the one thing they are trying/will not to do... BAN FIGURES!
How many other figures would become useful if the AD, Corpheus, Striker were banned? With what I've heard about proposed rules changes, many figures would become useful once again without the uber-range bounders.
WK keeps patching their "mistakes" with bigger mistakes. If things follow the current trend, soo there should be a 23" Charger to counter the AD's 18" and Corphy's 22" effective range.
If the current trands keep up, soon the 3'x3' playing are will become too small to prevent a first turn strike.
