WizKids have decided to make Flight not optional thus preventing Fell Reapers, Solonavi, and Bloodsuckers from Double Timing. This might be a problem, but then again it might not. Perhaps it will temporarily change the boot or horseshoe into a wing? Or maybe something completely different? None of us will know until the WizKids make the actual change to flight public. So in the meantime let's just wait and see exactly what they've done to flight.

Actually Chaim, with charge, it's 10 figures that are being made useless. So 10 out of... how many? Eh, anyways, read my post here for the logic behind that statement. And while we're at it, bound certainly isn't being hurt. Sure, bounders can only move anywhere from... 4 to 8 inches (or something like that), but then again, that's the penalty they must incur for being able to cover anywhere from 15"-22" at a time, as well as being able to move around figures, terrain, etc. before shooting.
First of all, thanks for the love mrdbeau....lol;)
I don't think I'm making my point clear enough. Your example is one I would use to make my point. It's not just Charge, Bound, Flight, but rules like Rule of 3, Double-time, Surge, ......and everything else that is being pumped out in 2.0, that creates this situation. My point is that the cumulative effect of every rule, SA change, and domain, relic, and "symbol" on a dial, is what will eventually significantly lower the usefulness/playability of 1.0 figures.
As you state, Charge only effects a certain # or % of figs from the total 1.0 roster. Bound, Flight, Necromancy, and every other SA will have the same impact. As will rule changes, domain cards, symbol changes, the faction issue, rule of 3, and any other rule that comes out. Some that weren't "playable" will become "more playable", but not necessarily "playable" if you get my drift. Many others that were playable, (and you can take out the Ubers from the equation and it still has the same effect), aren't as playable when put into the dynamics of the new game. Every single aspect of the new rules will have a small impact on current figures, but when you add the "small" impact from each of the SA's, rules, etc., the Sum becomes quite a bit larger than it would seem.
I don't care anymore about any of the changes, and I don't care anymore about the value or playability of figures. That is completely out the window, and I believe past the point of no return. I've resigned myself to this fact, and I am disappointed about this. The question for me is "What am I gonna do now?" I don't know, but believe this.........
Although 2.0 makes my Wood Golems more playable , does that actually mean that they have become playable in the grand scheme of things?
I think not.....
I do care that many people have invested a lot of time, money, and other stuff into building their current collections, and many things are going to have some type of negative impact on that. Like I have said a million times, I think that 2.0 will be the best game going, and I truly believe that. I just think what has happened, is a shame....and most of my feeling revolves soley around the elimination of current factions. That one thing will make more figures less playable or less played than any one single SA or rule change. I can deal with rule changes, SA alterations, etc., as I think they create new strategies because of them.
My collection of KI is not being phased out because of Charge, my collection of KI is being phased out because it doesn't exist in 2.0, due to something stupid called storyline.......
The same holds true for the other factions.....besides the all Unique factions and the powerhouse Shyft Faction. The Shyft sucked so bad, the couldn't figure out a way to make them less playable!:p
BTW: mrdbeau, I agree with the example you used with Wyvern.

I knew you were going to say that...

But Chaim... it's like... 6 freaking figures. Sure, if it was even like 25 or 30, it would suck... but it's 6. Bound is not making any figures 'unusable' that weren't already... flight isn't changing... necro has gotten stronger with the new VCs and most of the other 1.0 SAs are staying the same or are getting even stronger, for the whole effect of making 1.0 figures MORE playable in general than they are now. Yes, the game will have small impacts in various ways, and some figures will be unplayable that are unplayable now, etc etc. but the whole effect of the change will be to make more figures more playable. Period.

Um... yeah.

Chaim, let's be 'cynically optomistic' about it for now and wait for the game to come out. It may be we're both right, and some things will suck and some things will be great... it may be that 1.0 figures will be A LOT more playable than 2.0 figures... heck, it may even turn out that 2.0 fixes all of the problems with the game and everyone can run around thinking happy thoughts and we won't need a 'Happy Thread'. It may even turn out that the game flops and we're all screwed and the thousands of hours of my life spent on this website were sort of wasted... We'll see, but I'm going to remain optomistic and happy. WOOHOO!! :D

One of a few things... A) You can still use your KI just fine, especially considering now they can Double Time in formation... B) This rule will be changed within a few months of the game's release... C) Your collection of KI will be just as playable if not more so now...

[arrogance] Yeah, it was a pretty darn good example, wasn't it? ;) [/arrogance]
I am excited that the armies that came out of playtesting as being the MOST effective with ALL the rules and new SA's in effect, were the armies that combined 1.0 and 2.0 figures.
Straight 1.0 armies and straight 2.0 armies are not as good as mixed 1.0/2.0 armies.
And there is a wide variety of strategies, builds and styles that are effective in the new environment.
