Originally posted by Druss The point of the attack bonus is so one figure isn't super great in both range and close combat. The Ub-Khan can hit at Range he's just not very good at it with only a 8 attack, but in close combat he's got +3 to his hit which gives him a 11 which is very respectable. Its another layer of strategy, whats so bad about it?
As if that 8" range would ever see any use....
Apart from that, it snot only the bonueses, it a whole lot of other stuf too, Isabee mentioned the defense reduction on invulnerability slots. The SA adds 2 to defense and they just compensate for it being giving a totally illogical lower defense value. Lame. They compenstate the attack ratings of pierce figures. They compensate the damage rating of thunderblow figures, look at Sargoth. So he has thunderblow, but to even do the normal damage of a figure of the similar point cost you have to hit twice additionally. Lame. Too much gambling involved. And doesnt make any sense. Why should the best version of the Steam Mauler have an pathetic attack rating of 8?? Oh, because its a sniper. LOL They seem to go backwards from the result instead of granting actualy benefits. The bonuses should be bonuses, not corrections.
etc. etc. but who cares anyway. Its the way it is.
Why is it everyone thinks critical observations is whining ?
Careful now boys....I'm not making a broad statement about 2.0. I'm making a comment and observation about 1 figure. Xencade, I'll take your comment as constructive criticism. But please note, I am a good player, and I rolled my eyes also. However, I rolled my eyes because of what I see as a change in the message of one of the reasons I felt WK's said they needed to introduce 2.0. That is to "fix" the problem everyone thought was created by extremely powerful bounding figures dominating tourney play.
Rest assured, once I have some practise on this new game I will figure out ways to take this figure down, I'm just commenting that the review of the stats leads me to believe that a soaring, 24" bounding, solid defense figure with excellent attack stats sounds very much like an expensive 2.0 version of the Amazon Drac & Corpheus which everyone but the best players thought were so evil.
I would have thought that WK would have simply kept extremely powerful big bound out of 2.0.
The real broken figure is that 29pt DeathSpeaker.
For 29pts, take your oponents Drac down and then on your next turn bring the thing back and whack your opponent with their own fig and then it is permanently gone!
Unless I am missing the part in the rules where there is a point cap on the figs based on the Revenant's point cost, like summon. But I don't think so considering it's only on the board for a few seconds anyway.
wow! that is a neat ability, i don't really think it's broken either.
Bob, you know I was waiting to see how long it took for someone to notice that; good observation. I guess people are too much in awe of the uniques. Those subfaction abilities are great because they exist throughout the dial. How many times, for example, have you seen vampirism too far down the dial to make any difference (see Seething Knight). That revenant ability is simply awesome.
Hmmm...how about adding the Helm of Rule to Varatrix? Now hes just under 200 points, 2 less attack, however has a starting 19 defense, and only figures with a relic/leadership/command can attack him (and thats only in clost combat).
That would make him un-counterable to a lot of figures.
You can't just say "well if you want to beat them just use the domain card that restricts flight/bound, etc..." What are you supposed to do if you don't have that particular domain card, or your opponent brings the counter card?
Noble, yeah, it was cirticism, but not towards you or anything.
I try and bring out the usefulness in most pieces if possible, or the ways people can taken down what seem to be impossible pieces to take down at first glance.
I have to say that I was surprised as well to see a 10" bounder with a range of over 12". Very surprised indeed, but to see a 214 cost on it, relieved me a bit.
Also, while I feel some element of Bound still should be in every army, it's not the end all be all like it used to be, because it can no longer double move without damage! Which makes this figure more restrictive.
As some others have stated, I'm sure some of our speculations and assumptions will change once more figs are released and more relics and domains are revealed.
Dalmatio: That would bring his cost up to like 260. You wouldn't be able to get any objectives.
Both Uniques look great IMHO. In the 1.0 enviroment they would have clearly been broken, but the objectives and domains and all that other stuff makes them quite balanced, usable figures. Of the 2 I think the Drac is better for his point cost, as he deals 5 damage his whole life, but the Solo is more usable in a regular 2.0 game and isn't hosed as easily. I like them both quite a lot!!!(me liking a Solo, who'd of thought?:))
THe nons look good too. Of them I think the Dark Crusader is most usable. All ranks are quite good for their cost.
drac is nice they should chuck hex tho :(
the sol is nice to
my want list 4 2.0:kossak drac thing sol thing
number of boosters ill need 2 buy:alot :(
i hope i pull 1 of those 3 at the marquee or heck all of them id win probably
well lookie what we have here,
a flier with ghost form, well i guess that means that the only way the opponent can get you is with a soaring close combat-er, wait, what's that; counterattack with 18 defence, you gotta be ####tin me, i guess i'm like santa claus, ppl just can't me you, and even when they do it's useless.
now don't forget the 8" far range with 5damage peirce. I guess you can just fly around shooting ppl. Now all we need to add to the mix is some relic that boosts up your defence by like 2 or 3, and then you really are bulletproof i guess all that would be like 180-190 pts. WOW YOU JUST WON A 200 PTS. GAME!!!
Seriously WK, figures like this make you wanna quit the game.
I am very dissapointed:(
I don't know if anyone else has pointed this out but 2.0 is about controlling objectives, last thing I read was that Soaring figures have to land to control objectives. These figurs will take up many points and that means fewer other warrior to control objectives, meaning that the player may have to land to win the objective.
yes but you have a whole 50 mins to first kill off half the opponents army, than you can land on top of the objective, and to fix the 8"range you can just play wylden forest to slow the guys down
I liked! Great sculpts and some great stats too. The uniques are very powerful, but what can I say, they might have to come down and take this objective sometime... and we'll be waiting for them then.
And look to the bright side, they can be captured!!!
I really think the nons are much more fun.
UbKhan ***: charge 8, 11 meelee attack and potential to demoralize himself and deal 11clicks of dam.
Troll Smasher **: sweep and 4 dam always make me smile.
Troll Smasher *:surge com ram e ataque com dano 4.
Steam Mauler * and ***: Bombardment rocks, Bombardment with pierce and 2 targets rocks big time.
Dark Crusader ***: 29 point for the revenant hability.
