Well, that's a lot nicer then. I was gonna say, big spells were never gonna get played if they were so easily countered. Hmm, sounds just like MtG...
The little doorhangers aren't so nice though. There's just something so unintimidating about Khan Rava bounding into battle with a styrene picture of Varatrix hanging from his bow.

True. But keep in mind your opponent will likely be playing a wand figure or ten. So a Possessed Draconum might not last very long in that environment ;)
LEt's not get too sidetracked on this thread about set releases;)..... IMHO it's fine.... it is slower than MK 1.0 ... heck we had minions, pyramid and uprising only about a month apart each and dragonsgate showed up less than 3 months after uprising.... so they released 4 sets in a span of 6-7 months. MK 2.0 is releasing 3 in 11 months........thats 4-5 months longer and one set short. In comparison, I'd say the span in MK 2.0 releases are a landslide winner compared to MK 1.0. I also agree that two sets every three years will kill MK.
The spellbook and spell concept is amazing! I will have to definitely agre that Possesd draconum would be an AWESOME choice for the construct..... man thats some serious pain..... but I can see that anti-GF/LI enchantment being almost a staple spell in builds to come ... an equivalent of casting this enchantment on rava just before he bounds to shoot Varatrix and saying "Pull!" :D
**sigh**Sorcery.............. so close, yet so far away.....

Of course the next question is: does he get a click for cursed for being constructed?! Also, it would make sense that magic immune figures should not be able to be form constructed...oh the headaches we'll have!
I wouldn't count the whole cost of the spellbook into the "savings" for a construct, after all you'd still have pages left for other spells. :D
As for your rules question, I'd have to say yes, he's being effected by a figure with :wand:, so he takes a click for cursed. On the other hand, this is all happening in setup, so do cursed and MI even matter?
Originally posted by JFarlander Actually, it is a subfaction symbol. The article mentioned that spells will have requirements, and the poster that was scanned in a few weeks ago clearly showed a spell that only the AE could use.
Spell types are determined by a line under the name, that has the type spelled out.
After reading this, and seeing the possibilities that could make MK the game of choice out there, I am pleasantly surprised by the "mechanics".
BUT.....
The best part of this set, after you get past the bells and whistles, is exactly the point made in the quotes above. I believe that the faction/sub-faction requirements will be a leveling influence in the game. It will create real strategies, and prevent many "broken" combinations that the smart people always attempt to find so quickly.
This will be great, if it is in fact the case. I can't wait to see the "complaints" posted, like: "I think it sucks that I can't use "insert spell here" with my "insert awesome figure here"."
This is a great way in getting more single faction armies developed. This would save the game, and make the "crappy" figures more useful. Thus, more bang for your buck!!
I wonder what Apocalypse spells do...:D Creeping plague, meteor storm, finger of death, the possibilities are endless! I think I will play Apocalypse for now since they don't have much representation.
I can't wait to strap that Arcane Sight spell onto Khan Rava and send him hunting for Varatrix!
This stuff looks great - I really hope that they push the standard build up to at least 400 points so we can get both cavalry and a sorcerer, and support, into regular army builds!
