For all those people complaining about how big the FAQ is (or is getting), just remember they put stuff like this into it:
Quote
When measuring, ignore all vertical distances; use only the flat, horizontal distance on the battlefield between the two points.
I mean... unbefreakinglievable that this has to be in the FAQ...
Anyway, Deep Water still needs to go. Either that, or ban Potion of Water Breathing. If they just hadn't given ANY unique/LE/whatever the ability to go hop in Deep Water, then it wouldn't be a problem. But, since we have to deal with the H20 potion, Deep Water has to go.
Wow, just wow .... I am dazzled by the significant changes made on K-Bow, Rage Hammer, & Storm Maul. What were solid offensive weapons have been neutered as offensive weapons. I can understand K-Bow and SM. People complained so loudly about these that I knew something was going to change. But Rage Hammer ? Didn't WK think that this would be fielded by a cavalry unit ? I didn't see the uproar about Rage Hammer that I heard about the other 2 relics, so why change it ? What about these relics point value now. Is Rage Hammer or SM worth their points if they can't do the same thing they did just a few days ago.
What's the deal with a soaring figure moving to ground or visa-versa not considered being moved if the center dot doesn't move ? What is the impact of this. Does this mean a figure can then move after coming down from soaring. Does this mean if I free spin any other figure, but don't move it's center dot it's not moved ? What motivated the move for soaring figures.
Does the clear terrain ruling for hindering terrain apply only to Nature’s Ally subfaction or all figures occupying hindering. Does this mean that a figure with Stealth sitting in hindering can now be shot by another figure in hindering ?
I pity the player that doesn't have all the FAQ's memorized perfectly and have a copy of it with them at all times. Forget looking at the effected relics for clear rules.
Sorry guys, but in my humble opinion all these changes are concerning. I applaud WK for quickly answering the firestorm of complains, but the decisions point back to the age old question about play testing.
Yeah, and what aquatic figures get used?? Besides the DC Salamander... The answer is none... and it doesn't look like the situation is going to get much better. So that argument really is moot. There isn't much of an effectiveness of :aquatic: figs to start with...
The only problems come from Uniques with a Potion of Water Breathing. That's fact. So deep water has to go... that's just the way it goes. You lose the 'effectiveness' of one figure but prevent some other ridiculous combos.
Maybe WizKids "nerfed" Rage Hammer because they thought it would move into the driver's seat as #1 cheese in the land. Could this be the first case of them fixing a "problem" before it was actually a problem?!? What if a psychic is now on their design team? ;) That would be good, right?
Worlds should be most interesting to read about, if anyone goes.

Mago-Azul
BTW, does anyone know WHO is going to Worlds ? How many people from the USA Nationals go (top 2 ?). How about a poll of those from other countries that are going. It's about a month away and people should have plans pretty much locked down by now, so it should be easy to get a reasonable count.
One of the more abusive things that you can (still) do with Deep Water -
Rava + Shadowplate + PoWB = 137 points. With reasonably well placed chunk of Deep Water, Rava can keep his eyes on 2 objective tokens, and keep himself in a place where he is very safe.
I know that this can be nerfed by Domains that either kill Range or Terrain, but there are storyline events where the players set the battlefield and no Domains are in effect.
So while I'm not syaing its a big issue, there is potential for abuse here.

I'm thinking you can now change elevation without being given an action(if your center dot doesn't move)
I can see uses for this. :)
About the changing of elevation... the deal is that when you simply drop from soaring to ground level it is a move action, but it is not a movement. So, for example, you can drop from soaring into b2b with a polearm figure, but you will not trigger polearm.
Ku, until you get a hydro-bounding Rava on you, I guess you just won't understand how aggravating it is...
