im doing z scale for the straight ground stuff, maybe do a n scale so i can double use it for MW... n eyeballs about right for stuff close to the planes
i plan on doing a bit of both, but using models for the buildings... i have a z and N scale catalog that has some good period stuff... mountains are foam, newspaper and plaster cloth
The advantage to these is they are nigh indestructable. I almost wept the day my demo terrain for Warzone was dropped by some chubby little kid at a Con.
Or just do a search for 3d Heroclix buildings on google or yahoo. They won't be to scale initially, but if you change the print dimensions they should work like a charm.
If you make your own I would suggest plastic card and some type of foam board(DON'T USE REGULAR STYROFOAM, IT DOES NOT WORK WELL) to build your stuff with. I will try to make my own sometime later. This method works very well for people who are experienced. A bonus to this method is that you can make any type of building you want.
styrofoam sheets work just fine if you have the proper tools for cutting it... Profile boards work great, visit a local train/hobby store and check out woodland scenic's subterrain system
have made some like those for MW out of plastic card and Styrofoam sheets (I don't remember the thickness of the Styrofoam sheets were though). I used some cheap generic paint from a hobby store to paint them with. They turned out really cool looking and were pretty durable (But not durable enough to save them from a little kid).
Sounds cool. I never had thought of just using Foam and spackle to make buildings. I have always used plastic card with foam sheets. The spackle and foam method may be faster to make buildings. I'll have to try that sometime.
