Ah, the good old days. They dealt damage like machine guns, and in all probability, you'd run out of ammo after your first kill :p.
Of course, with the spray and amount, hitting critical was almost as likely, if not more.
Makes a good Mech to pair up with a bigger hitter though. Have something crack open some armor and have the Kraken (or Bane as I prefer to call it) pelt it from afar to try for crits. A possible 20 shots all hitting different locations makes it a good chance that you'll hit something important. There's also something to be said for the amount of shots that could possibly hit the head and after so many shots either knock the pilot out or flat out kill him.

and don't forget the possible mech knockdowns if you hit with enough damage!:devious:
#5 Violators look soooo tough . . . I'm waiting for the Violator II in assault class (seeing something like that as a 95 ton 'mech - - DEAR GOD! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!!)
#6 Tie with Cygnus and Thor (missile rack arms) just because they look like a walking weapons platform, not some transformer!
#7 Nova Cat (football player with guns for arms like someone said)
Oh, and I forgot the most lethal, most devastating and intimidating 'mech ever created. Just the name instills fear in all who hear it. The firefly. It's battle armor on stilts.
My favourite 'mech design of all time is the Archer. Nothing can compare to its looks and then its hidden missile payload. So what if it can't anything hit anything with its Battlefists, they LOOK like they can rip you to shreds.
I also like the look of the original Dark Age ForestryMech Mod, something about a 25-ton Indie ripping you to shreds at range then closing and opening those specific holes even more with a really big blade.
With so many designs to choose from, I'll limit my choices to MW figures based soley on sculpt aesthetics.
1. Kodiak - perfectly scaled and proportioned, well detailed, true to the CBT design with all the assault mech fear factor and bear-mauling goodness a fan could ask for.
2. Ti Tsang - True to scale and CBT design. If you look closely the paneling and the detail on the figure is probably the best there is.
3. Nova Cat - Another sculpt true to the CBT design with all its aesthetic elements in perfect harmony. Great scale, pose, and an awesome head sculpt.
4. Battlemaster - Great scale, bulk, detail, and also true to CBT design. Caber has the best clear cockpit in the entire collection.
5. Mining Mech MOD - The intricacy of the details on the sculpt of this mech is top rate. For me this is the most detailed small mech that ever came out of the WK factory. The scale is great and the design true to the spirit of a converted industrial mech.
There are several other great sculpts, and aesthetics as we know is mainly a matter of taste.
As a final word I'd just like to add that I hate what they did to the Atlas. Sure it looks better that the first one, but the hockey mask just doesn't do justice to the guy who drew the original Atlas. It's called the Atlas because of the globe it carries between it's shoulders and without it, the heart of the original design is no more. I mean the new sculpt looks great, but it should have been callled something else, like the Jasonmech :D
I like both Sea Fox totem mechs as well, the Piranha from CBT (although its weaponry was just plain odd...12 MGs?!) and the Tiburon from MW, both have a cool "aquatic" look to them and the Najeh Hammond Tiburon has an awesome paint scheme.
Agree that the Ti Tsang is a very cool design, but it doesn't really capture the oriental flavor the way the Kurita mechs do (Rokurobi, Shiro, Hitotzune)

The Piranha was a second line mech used for urban policing and riot squalling actions. It was made to stand there and intimidate civil poppulation and keep unrest in the city population down IE:crowd control!

I really like the Shiro sculpt in terms of aesthetics but I'm one of those Battletech fans who hate Wizkids for introducing the anime-ish fantasy mechs like the JF bird mechs and the Kurita samurai mechs. This is where the balance between form and function is compromised for the sake of coolness and appeal to the younger market. I mean they just can't convince me that banners (on the Kurita mechs) and the wings (on the falcon mechs) are heat vents of some sort. A naginata the size of the Shiro's looks like it's heavier than a gauss cannon, and I don't think any mechwarior would be crazy enough to trade a gauss cannon for a blade.
I'm not trying to spark a debate, I still believe it's all a matter of taste.
