1. Galactus potentially cannot attack if you KO, where as apoc can.
2. Without any other outside effects, Galactus cannot win you the game until turn 10 (unless your opponent puts down).
3. I will admit, the last part is bunk, but there are ways around it. Stun him and it goes away. Really it should say "Characters you control cannot be the target of effects your opponent's control", but hey, it's Galactus...so respect.
Look, buddy, I recently made a stall deck and considered all the options for turn 8. Each character had advantages and disadvantages. Well, Galactus blows away every single one of those choices. It's not a matter of what is the situation, what is the opponent packing, etc. It's simply madness. Who cares he cannot attack if you KO? Its four resources going away. You can't rape the game like that. Turn 10 means nothing if resources are destroyed like that. I don't care the respect Galactus deserves, which in my opinion is not that much, since Dr. Doom kicked his ass in Secret Wars, but you gotta understand that this game is played by resources. If you want respect for Galactus, you can make him like: if you play Galactus, you win the game, and save a lot of card space.
But once again, don't expect it to be balanced. I wish you fantasy card creators tried hardest to make real card and not silly dreams. Nice art, tho.
Well, as far as I am concerned, I did try to make real cards and I resent the fact that you say that I didn't. There are a number of things you have to consider:
1) I was the only person making these cards, whereas when designers come up with cards they have a whole team of people, people like you who say "Thats broke, fix it", and then they go back and fix it. Alot of these were initial shots, posted for the purpose of discussion. If someone said it was broken, I asked them why and if they gave a valid reason then I changed them.
2) I no longer have photoshop, otherwise I would be chaning lots of those cards, there are a bunch others besides Galactus that I want to change to balance out their power levels, but simply put, at this point I can't, so....sorry.
3) There really is no inherent problem with some card being supremely powerful. Look at other rares such as Sinestro, or even Bastion for that matter pre-overload ban. There is a reason the text is gold you know.
4) Making cards is a process, it isn't something that is easy either. When I was making these cards, it's not as if I just wanted to slap the biggest power on every guy and be done with it. Look at the Silver Surfer, given the nature of the team and the strategy, he has a great power...and a horrible draw back.
5) Your argument about who does and does not deserve respect is moot in my opinion. Saying "X doesn't deserve respect because he has been beaten by Y" is dumb because Y has been beaten by Z which has been beaten by X! You can go round and round naming who has been beaten and who hasn't. This is not even a point worth arguing over.
"I don't care the respect Galactus deserves, which in my opinion is not that much, since Dr. Doom kicked his ass in Secret Wars, but you gotta understand that this game is played by resources."
I just got to mention that Dr. Doom didn't beat down Galactus, Beyonder-enabled-Dr. Doom did. And Beyonder is by far the most powerful entity in the universe.
Man... I feel another Batman vs. Superman thread coming on.
Thing11: The cards are really nice... some are unbalanced but there are quite a few good ideas in there. I like some of the non-Galactus cards you designed.
Although gabusan's approach was a bit direct, he is correct about the resource destruction of Galactus. I know you can't really change him now but a few things you can add to balance Galactus more and give him more flavor is that he shouldn't be able to be tutored for (who goes to find Galactus?) and there should only be 1 copy of him in a deck (there is only 1 Galactus). I understand he is an 8 so that you can get to him, but I would probably make him a 10-12 drop and then add an alternate recruit cost of KOing your own resources (maybe all of them) in order to recruit him earlier.
And for all the critics (including myself), it's not easy to create "balanced" fantasy cards... so let's not be too hard on Thing11 and just have fun.
you know Galactus should actually be a 9 drop. not an eight. espcially since silver surfer is an 8 drop for F4. if you don't KO the 4 resoures then hes the same size as Ra's al ghul. his stats and cost don't make much sense.
Galactus - Destroyer of Worlds (5)
Flight/Range
Galactus gets +3 ATK while attacking.
Galactus gets +3 DEF while defending.
Boost 5: Search your deck for a copy of a character with "Galactus" in the title and put it under this card. The stats of this card equal the totals of both cards.
A - 12
D - 12

Your right, if done correctly (that is according to the comics) Galactus should be more of a 10 drop with stats like 50/50, but hey, you have to make it fit within the realm of the game. Even Silver Surfer being an 8 doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you look at other 8s, I mean Joker? He's cool and all and a great villian, but in terms of power levels, he's just not there. Thats why the cards have to be adjusted. Let me explain why I made Galactus how I did.
1) The resource consumption comes from, well, the fact that he eats planets. Now, Galactus is general not at full capacity unless he is fed, so thats where the exhaustion comes into play.
2) If your planet has been eaten, then you lose. Thats where the win condition comes from.
3) The stats come from the fact that many 8 drops now are coming out at 20/20 and I wanted Galactus to be unstunnable without power at least 1 power up, so 17 + 4 = 21 which is exactly what I wanted.
4) The cosmic power: Since you are dependent on keeping him around, it would seem that unless there was a way to give him a chance of not being stunned, he wouldn't be as good. Plus he is Galactus, enough said. Like I said before, I know its strong, thats why he has gold on him.
I will try and come up with something better for him. Maybe he will have to pay a bunch of endurance, or something to use his power, or maybe I can use the opponents deck as a win condition instead (i.e. like emperor joker). We'll see.
I have two ideas:
1) Galactus should not start out weaker than Silver Surfer or Thanos(even though he becomes more powerful)
2) Frankie Raye, as she already exists, has her power activated when you control a 9-drop. Since this(I believe) represents her becoming Galactus' herald, I feel he should be a 9-drop or greater.
All in all though, great cards. I love the pictures and concepts.
At the start of the combat phase u may ko one of your oppenents face up locations if u do this turn galactus gets x attackand x def where x is the cost of the location u kod this way.at the start of the recruit step ko a location u control or ko galactus
