No no no, he was typecast as that guy from Crisis after Crisis on Infinite Earths. After that, nobody would touch him, 'cept for Grant Morrison on his Animal Man run, and even that was just a desperate, last ditch attempt save a doomed series by leeching off the lingering popularity of an old crossover.
Just don't ask me how Psycho-Pirate, an Earth-2 villain, wound up joining the SSoSV, an Earth-1 villain team. That's one of the great, unsolved mysteries of the pre-crisis DCU.

My first experience with Psycho Pirate was in one of those annual JLA/JSA crossovers, where the villains from Earths One and Two teamed up to take the heroes down. They called themselves the SSoSV, and despite little connection to the original group, (except for Jason Woodrue, the Plant Master/Floronic Man), even the cover of the issue proclaimed them to be The Secret Society of Super-Villains. I guess UDE considers them fair game.
I remember this particular incarnation including Killer Frost, Rag Doll, Signalman, Cheetah, Brainwave, Floronic Man, The Monacle and the Mist, and they were led by the Ultra-Humanite. Great stories, drawn by the incomparable George Perez.
And I wanna see every single one of those characters (eventually) ... :)

I bet the Joker knows, that's what sent him mad :)
For a while, Animal Man knew he was a comic book character, but he was in a coma during the revelation, and woke with amnesia, attributing the whole thing to a drug enduced hallucination.
Also, Martian Manhunter has since then read Animal Man's mind, and found out that information in doing so, but has kept it to himself, as it was too disturbing to share.

OH!
Yes, yes, I completely agree with that. But then again, it would have been hard to work him into anything else after that, since Crisis really did mess him up.
This is getting very old fast. Upperdeck has shown us nothing combined with the fact that the last set (Avengers) won't see true play until the next PC. we as players have very little to talk about game wise.
Their are alot of players like me who love previews so we can see the game evolve and become bigger but i think
Upperdeck's silence is generating no interest and is losing people because they don't know anything.
When you reveal a set (mechanic, and rare cards), it makes a sneak preview easier because you know the new rules and how to play. imagine having concealed revealed a week before the sneak preview. It would have confuse the Hell out of players.
So i home that in the weeks to come upper deck gives us a whole lot of info.
PS: Styykeryl if you got a problem with me speak your mind or just be quiet. If you want to throw verbal punches I will make you cry like a little girl who just got gum in her hair

Assuming that Upper Deck gives us the standard two weeks of previews - like they have done for just about every expansion - they would start next Monday. Possibly with one or two cards spoiled before then as extras to get people drooling when they unveil the new mechanic. If, next Monday, there are still no previews, then maybe you can start complaining then, but for the love of god, wait until after next Monday, okay?
