I wouldn't say savage beatdown is overrated, I'd say it's out of place for the current game.
Now people need cards with multiple functions to help out their deck type.
Squadron needs mega-blast/flying kick to empty their hand and give much needed pumps
Some decks use no man's to counter hidden characters and give a pump-like effect.
Beatdown was good when you needed to destroy a person's defensive pumps, because defense pumps were small, and beatdown usually won over small defense pumps such as dodge, but in a meta where defensive pumps are rarely even USED, then it's a different story.
Beatdown - not overrated, and never will be, just not the greatest this moment in time for certain decks.
I agree with WBO. It isn't that SB is overrated, it is just that it isn't necessary. there are pros and cons about the various attack pumps that are around. savage beatdown gives a very high generic attack pump, but it costs (both in the game and in real life) way too much. on the other hand we have cards like mega blast. it is about 10 cents and costs 1. the only problem is, thhat it has a cost. again this is more a matter of opinion rather than overratedness (is that even a word?) In my opinion, being the cheap bastard that I am, I like the cost effective ones. is that extra $40 really worth the +1 atk?
Monica Rambeau and Captain America are the most overrated. You can claim NTZ and Savage Beatdown are overrated (they're not), but the most overrated? Not with rares like Captain America competing. People will always play them and it can't be denied that they're very good cards.
The question is how we define "Overrated". Is it cards that see play and are supposed to be running around mauling everybody but aren't? Then that would make it Null Time Zone. Is it cards that, when released, were supposed to be groundbreaking but turned out awful? Source would be the top of that list (It... does... nothing!), with countless others that have come and went (I do remember people heralding Weapon of Choice as the "next big thing"; and whining about Captain America 6-drop).
I think overrating only really occurs for a short time between a card coming out, when a new expansion is released, and when legal play begins. The rating becomes much more evident then. Some that make my list are: jarvis, Detective Work, Dick Greyson three drop, relocation... you get the idea
