Originally posted by Bizarro #98 Oh, how I yearn for the Metagame.com of days long past, when the game was first beginning.
It's not really the writers' fault. Playing the game is all they know. But if I wanted articles about that, I could get them anywhere. Metagame used to be something really different. Metagame used to be all about inside information that you couldn't get anywhere else, and that's what I think it should be about again.
Stu, writers like you just get in the way of that.
Originally posted by Bizarro #98 Stu dismisses all criticisms as jealousy, which is well known as the easiest defusing argument for anything.
(As you can prolly tell, I really don't care much for netiquette.)
See, if I were to get serious here, I would point out how pathetic your double standard is. You blast the heartfelt efforts of Metagame writers quickly and mercilessly, never for a moment giving any thought to the care and time that was put into their articles, simply because they are not the inside information of UDE development and they don't fulfill your particular fetish. That is well known as the easiest way to get attention for anyone. "Look at me, I am a scathing critic." - without any constructive effort to improve the situation or any alternative of your own. Tearing down the efforts of others without any efforts of your own is a sign of weakness. Your tombstone will probably say: "That sucked."
Originally posted by stubarnes And that makes my stuff "asinine". Check.
It not only makes your stuff asinine, it makes you, as a person, asinine for believing that anything you have to say deserves to be up there.
Face it, Stu. You're nothing more than just another guy who plays this game. You don't deserve to be on Metagame any more than any random VSRealms user, and your articles should be relegated to the Original Content section of this site, where it belongs.

Of course you don't. As you've displayed several times, you're defining characteristic is selfishness. Anything that inconveniences you is bad, regardless of how polite it would be to others.

A double standard is not unfair when it involves two groups that are not equal. Those who make the game know more about it than those who merely play it. Therefor, those who make the game and those who merely play it are not equal.

I both give thought to and appreciate the care and time that goes into Metagame articles that are not written by the Upper Deck employees who create the game. That doesn't change the fact that they should leave such articles to their own websites and off of Metagame.

I have suggested an alternative to improve the situation. Keep the player written articles on the fansites. Stay off of Metagame.

I agree, which is why I instead offer valid criticisms.

Actually OZZ... you might be able to help with an article about something I have not covered yet. I just searched all your posts, and I see that you post almost exclusively in the trading forums. What kind of article would you like to see on Metagame about that aspect of the hobby? What kind of article would the traders in the community like to see? You can send me a PM or email, thanks.

You seem intelligent... yet you insist that you as an extremely biased and special-interest individual should dictate the entire content of that site? You honestly cannot see the fact that Metagame is not meant to cater to the comic-book snobs of the world? You can actually sit there and say that your tastes should be imposed on the entire community... most of whom are nothing at all like you?

well considering im just started playing vs a while back my views are rather limited .i have read a few of ure articles on metagame and find them somewhat enjoyable.but i9t seems that most people see u as a barn but since i just got started on u by ure comment a while back saying tupac was a sellout and the canstant smuggness u seem to have i had to add a comment.
Oh yeah! I knew I would catch hell for that. Now I remember you. I would still like to do an article for the traders of the community if you (or any other trader) has any constructive suggestions. Thanks.
So, after all of this, who is it that Stu barns the most?
I don't really want to get into any big arguements here, but please, can everyone try to at least avoid double posting (instead editing posts to add additional things you thought of)? Nettiquette is in fact just an extension of ettiquette, and while it takes a little effort, if everyone observes it, then it makes the message boards a lot more straightforward to navigate. This thread does not need to be nearly this long.
For the record, I think that it is reasonable enough for Metagame to include articles by players as much as game designers. To my understanding the site is meant to serve players of Vs at all levels, casual and competitive, beginner, pro, collector, inquistive game designer type. The only thing that needs to be ensured is that quality of articles is maintained, in terms of raw writing quality and serving a legitimate segment of the reading community.
If you ever want to see different/better content on metagame, feel free to email either the writer in particular that you'd like to cover something, or managing editor Toby Wachter, and I'm confident that your suggestions will be considered.

I'll barn you if you promise to post here more often. Sir, for you I will hereby vow to observe all the nettiquette I can fit onto my fingertips. I will start by trying to explain my beef with the haters, in terms of the above quoted words.
The reason the haters never get to me is this: they just scream adolescent lingo and never attack the actual content, or style, or focus. I could adjust to any critique that included some actual problem in the writing or the subject matter, but I tend to dismiss the "Stu's stuff sucks." type of comments. Biz's very accurate portrayal of my annoying slob of a message board persona has me re-evaluating my actions in the Realms, and I will adjust accordingly after I sober up... but most of the haters don't have anything to say that can help me get better.
