Darnit, if I would have known this I would have won another match at the PCQ last weekend.
So do these new changes mean that Beast Boy will still get more then one counter in a attack? It is worded slightly differently because instead of "Attacks or defends" its "Attacks or is attacked."
There is actually only one card using the "is attacked" wording these days---Lady Shiva, Sandra Woosan. All the others received errata to bring their texts in line with the newer "becomes a defender" template. Beast Boy's current wording:
Quote
Whenever Beast Boy attacks, put a +1 ATK/+1 DEF counter on him.
Whenever Beast Boy becomes a defender, put a +1 ATK/+1 DEF counter on him for each attacker.
You may notice, his current wording leads to the same result as his original wording would, as the rules stand today---the quoted rules point specifically addresses the "is attacked" wording.
I think the rules should just be changed. I don't want to have to remember a new set of eratta for each card and try to remember whether it's "becomes a defender" or "defends". Make them mean the same thing and decide what that thing is.
His text is quoted up in post #53, and is relatively clear already---it triggers only once each time he becomes a defender, but applies one counter per attacker.
And though it seems like UDE is still having problems uploading a new Comp. Rules document, the PDF going around pre-sneak weekend includes the changes talked about in this thread.
