Wow, so if it really is Indy Comics then how many sets will we be getting a year now? Or will they just cut a DC and Marvel set for two Indy sets? Interesting.
I think Indy wouldn't be released as a full on normal set. I think it would be something like 4-5 properties with 2-3 teams each. They'd each have a base starter pack on the cheap with 2 full or nearly full size decks and then limited booster set single packs. You buy the starters and get 4 of each card in it then buy the boosters to flesh the deck out. Each one being exclusive content.
And if it were possible sell Starter Kits, with the decks, some packs and a sample comic or trade or something. Which is an idea someone else mentioned in some thread about something... lol But anyway, it's a brilliant idea and even BETTER suited for Indy releases.
Well the only thing that I could think of being extremely cool would be having characters that have something like morph from Magic. Like having a character card come into play face down that cost something reasonable and it be considered x/y (x and y would be the same for each character with "morph") then you can pay resource points or endurance to flip it. Of course you could play the character normally because it would have a normal threshhold cost. Maybe it could even have a special effect when you flip it. That would be really awesome actually. :knockedou
Edit:
Actually I'm stupid, stunned cards are flipped upside down that would cause too many problems.
If it is an Indy set then hopefully there will only be 3 set releases a year (one each of DC, Indy and Marvel). As it happens the new Marvel Modern environment has just started and already people are looking at Sneak Peeks for Infinite Crisis. It just seems that once a set becomes legal another is just being released and it never stops.
I just hope it is something DC related. My interest in comics is purely DC, so I really look forward to the 2 DC sets and the 1 DC starter deck each year.
The first immediate throught that comes to mind is a DC-related line. One option would be the Vertigo line which is directly owned by DC/WB. The other possibility would be a DC published line such as Wildstorm. Both of these could be kicked off with a starter deck.
For Vertigo, I would love to see a Fables themed starter deck with Fabletown facing the Enemy.
For Wildstorm, the obvious choice would be Wildcats.
I'm guessing it isn't the video game. Reason being that I seem to remember that the Konamii agreement specifically mentioned MARVEL Vs. - and there was talk that it would be marvel only - due to legal stuff over putting both companies characters onto the same property (messy) - and since they cancelled a DC project, I could imagine DC getting mighty upset that They would more or less have 2 products released to the 4 (ok - 3.5) from the Marvel side of things - So I hatew to say it but I do not think it's the vide game...
Indy? Perhaps - but I'm guessing it's something more along the lines of the Widstorm Line. Larger than the starter decks we've ad of late, smaller than a full set... maybe a 165 card Wildstorm set?
-EDIT-
Confirmed off the Press Release that it was specifically MARVEL for the video Game - It could be they coming to an agreement to cross over both sides into the game (hope so!) but the Press release specifies Marvel
It seems like expansion in Indy is a really polarizing issue in that a lot of people really want one but other people just don't care about it whatsoever. I would say this is what is discouraging UDE from doing a full Indy set because there are probably a ton of people who just don't care about Indy comics/cards. It's not really that they don't like them per se, it's just that they don't have any interest in them at all and probably wouldn't buy any cards based on them. It's probably like when some people like Marvel over DC or vice versa but at least people who don't really like Marvel but love DC, at least still know a fair bit about the characters. I guess what I'm trying to say is to not get your hopes up for an Indy set.
I'm holding out hope for either and Amalgam starter/mini set or some kind of Raid style starter like what they have described for the WoW TCG. It would be like I buy the Dr. Doom or Galactus Raid pack, and then face off against my three friends regular constructed decks. that would be bad ass!
