you know that now that you've said it your next event will be riddled with just this stuff, right?
lol
LOL, Damn straight! I know I am screwed now. I guess my defense of "you mean you were actually serious when you told us to check those things?" won't work now either.
Anyway I feel your pain man.
Giving you a warning seems kinda lame, you were obviously trying to follow the rules the best you could. The head judge should have just let it go.
this is the Bay Area, you know there are retards at ANY Sealed event. I know whenever I play a Sealed PCQ or Sneak Peek, there's a 50/50 chance I will get a FUBARed list. People mark the wrong column (I hate that the most), miscount, don't order the cards, anything that is possible to mess up a simple procedure. Knowing this, and especially because it's a 10K, you should've remembered the douchebag's name who "registered" your list and make sure the judge knows, so if he does it again (for the next packs), that he be punished. There DEFINATELY should be a penalty for mis-registering cards, especially in a big event. At the very least, his name should be read aloud so people can point and laugh!
Originally posted by xodarap Basically this is the level of competence you can expect from an "official" UDE tournament. A head Judge that let's you keep a 3 cost recruit with only two resourses! Now THAT's UDE 10k quality! Do you not remember Vegas T? Or Florida? This is no different.
Is it just me or are you the most negative person on the realms? I dont think I have come across anyone so paranoid (IE UDE like magic choses who wins) or negative in my gaming experience before. Luckily the majority of people I meet thru Vs are positive and generally fun people.
he isn't the most negative, but he isn't afraid to speak his mind. for good or bad. lol.
Spider, as is frequently the case with you and I, you choose to make this so much more personal than it has to be. One minute you'd have coniptions because i refer to you as spider-kid. The next, you lament your life as a child or some such.
Here, you say things that clearly are not accurate, and rather than tear you a new one, I try to gently explain to you that you just don't have enough information on the subject to make the statemen you have made.
Let me explain to you personally, then:
The warning I recieved and is being disregarded by nearly all who have suggested that it isn't a big deal, is on my permanent record. This means that as I was warned ocer an error that I didn't even make, I can now never let my guard down for even a moment because if I do, it will result in a game loss, that I didn't earn.
You, on the other hand, that hasn't gotten a warning for this action, can make the honest mistake in a deck list, and not have to worry about it this next time. You therefore are at an advantage over me. A small advantage, be it, but an advantage none the less.
Do I actively mind that? not so much. This is so much more a principles thing than anything else.
The bottom line is that I got a warning for another persons' actions while they got no warning at all. That can affect my future career, should I personally be the one in the future to make a HUMAN ERROR and overlook anything at all.
That will result in a game loss, while my registrar will go on to making more mistakes in the future.
I am posting this experience here for my fellow users to read and for UDE to see what exactly took place and how it isn't a balanced set of solutions to a problem, and that they should look it over and consider alternatives.
A fair way to address this would have been to issue both of us warnings, even if he wasn't present. Then there would be some recourse for him doing it again.
Instead, I have to go above and beyond, and call over judges for each and every single infraction from here on out to ensure that the registrar has done his job correctly.
This will slow down the event most likely, requiring judges to fix each mistake each time one is found, since I can't afford the luxury of making any human errors and risking forgetting to show a judge each infraction all at one time.
Does this help you to better understand that my warning isn't just some arbitrary non-event, but is in fact something hazardous to my possible future with the VS system tournaments?
I have been the victim of another's negligence once, and I cannot afford to be again.

ok, i havent finished reading the post, but this is wrong, you only get a game loss for receiving two warning for the same thing in the same tourny, not two warnings for the same thing ever. so calm down
There is no way a warning should have been given, that's ridiculous. Regardless of the actual consequences of recieving a warning, the fact that you are being told you have made mistakes, have done something wrong, when you haven't is very frustrating. As for the resource thing, why not just be forced to put a random card from hand down as the third resource? That makes much more sense than being a resource behind for the rest of the game.
Seconding TOG here... Tchalla... warnings don't stack like you're afraid of between multiple tournaments. If, IF you get a large number of identical warnings over a string of events, UDE might decide to look into what's happening. Firstly, if you're careful in the future and make sure to handle all corrections at once (and getting the judge's name is helpful for any potential future concerns), even if you get a *gasp* second warning at some point, you WON'T be getting a run-in with the UDE Hit Squad.

Because then there's no way to tell whether the resource he set wasn't a card he drew for Turn 4. That really should have been a game loss, and a warning for the opponent.

NO ONE is ever going to get enough warnings to warrant an investigation off of getting 'accidental/incidental' warnings.
And, an investigation will probably uncover that ... GASP ... they didn't deserve those warnings!
So, unless you are doing something that, if investigated, would lead to suspension ... there's not much chance of accidentally getting repeated similar warnings, get investigated for those, and get suspended or banned ... all because of other people's errors.
Now, if there was an elaborate conspiracy going for a frame up MAYBE ... but an investigation would probably reveal if a couple of judges were working together to get you black balled [unless all of UDE is in on it! OH NOES!]

First, when you recieve a sealed product pool that is not in order, more often than not you will not be given extra time because of this. This policy should be announced before deck construction begins; in any case, feel free to call a judge, but start sorting while you do so.

Actually, this may be something that you need to educate the judging staff on. I have played in 2 sealed 10Ks (at LA and Atlanta), and in both of those, I receieved horribly messed up card pools, and was denied extra time, even after asking the judge to go check with the head judge.
