If anyone involved in making this game is reading this thread, you would be well served to make this as much like Magic Online as possible. Basically put, Magic Online is the best thing thats ever happened to Magic.
Drafts, Leagues, 8-man tournaments, Premier Events, trade rooms. All of this is overwhelmingly positive for the Magic Online game, and contributes to its immense popularity.
Obviously, licensing DC has been an issue, but if all of the Marvel cards are kept up to date (Magic Online releases sets online about a month after paper release), then this game will likely be amazingly successful despite "half" the cardpool of the paper game.
Basically, Magic Online is the nut high, and this game has the potential to be just as good. So draft?
I would love to see a VS equivelant to Magic Online. However, that's not what this product is, as far as I can tell. Confining it to Marvel only really breaks it from what VS is really all about. Having said that, it seems like fun, and I'll probably buy the DS game. I can affoard $30 to play the single-player game on the train.

I agree with this post mostly. Please make VODO = MODO except for the random "HAHAHA SERVER DEAD" part.
Looks to me like you can just play the story-mode to get your points:
RAY: MTCG has an absolutely epic, single-player Story Mode with almost 300 different decks to play against. It’s held together by animated, comic book style cut scenes and features “boss” type battles. As you play through the story you pick up cards and get points you can use to purchase more cards and build more decks. What’s really awesome is that you can play the same story from two different perspectives – hero or villain! By the time you conquer both sides of the story you should have pretty close to a full set of the cards. You can use these cards against your friends in LAN or Ad-hoc mode without paying a cent over the cost of buying the game.

megatron - thank you - THIS is the type of info i am looking for on the Vs game that will get me excited. if this is the case, I will look into picking it up. The problem is that the publisher isn't putting out word yet.
(re: DS Version) Implements all the strategy and gameplay of the "Vs. System" TCG from Upper Deck including every card released through the Marvel Knights Booster set
The DS Version is only up through MMK??? No Avengers or X-men!?! OUCH!

The DS Version doesn't Jive with the the other versions??? (I admit, this is less of an issue, but still...if there are online tourney's, does that make the DS players a seperate league?)
So for those of us that mentioned buying the DS version (and I noted quite a few in this thread), will we be able to download/buy cards? How is that going to work? The DS doesn't have a hard drive or a flash memory slot like a PSP or PC...
These are things that I would like to get solid answers to, as I was excited about buying the DS version, until I REALLY thought about these points. I will probably still download the PC version, but the portability is the real Hot-ness for me, since I can already rock an OCTGN game at my PC. I don't plan on buying a PSP anytime soon either...

I hear you. I really wish they'd make it the same for the DS. I refuse to buy it for the DS if I can't play anyone on PC or they don't track my stats online like everyone else.
Well, the DS is a significantly less powerful machine than either the PSP or PC, and you've already noted the lack of anything resembling significant writeable memory.
Online MODO drafts work of pritty much the same business plan as online poker (only with packs rather than $). I can't see another way for an online CCG to attract players and make a profit.
A few companies have tried getting players to buy virtual packs to play constructed with, I don't think any of them got very far.

DTee
So basicially they want usto play modo but take away half the cards we can use...
RIGHT... if you honestly buy into this you are only fooling yourself
Oh and you are also fooling yourself into thinking it will be anything like MODO. It wont be like modo simply because
1) VS is nowhere near as popular as Magic
2) MODO is a blessing to casual players VS doesn't have enough casual goodness to take advantage of a VODO
3) VS market is terrible, after a sets initial release prices go down to almost nothing unless it's a "money card", so it's not like you'd make the kind of money from VODO that you can on MODO
4) VS limited is plain terrible.(you cant even show signals hardly in vs) Especially sealed, sealed in vs is quite possibly the most non skill based sealed of any game. It's almost impossible to make wrong choices in VS sealed. And honestly if you are wanted VODO to draft theres gonna have to be more events that are sealed based to make it matter and if even if that does happen why would you want to run alot of sealed events when sealed deck is terrible.
as much as i'd like VODO to be a success i highly doubt it will be especially if i cant even use DC.
