If they don't want people powergaming, they shouldn't put up such cool swag. Last time we had an incentive to play more "casual" decks (original decks are far more likely to get picked). This time... well, probably the best playmat I've seen, coupled with EoME extended art. I guarantee you people will bring their "A" game.
I'll probably be playing Slip-Kick which is basically AGL except playing Slipstream on 4 (w/ an AGL) and not Faust. It will run a Fate set and was a deck that had only 3 rares (Anti-Matter Convergence) in it anyway.
I'm pretty excited since this is my favorite deck anyway, so I'm looking forward to it.
Tim Batow built a very similar deck for us to play at PC:Sydney, and it was a phenomenal deck. The only rares in the deck were Enemy and Stargate.
While Stargate definitely needs to be replaced (probably just by a full set of Penal Colony) you actually gain a card in the transition to Golden: Cover Fire.
It'll be interesting to see whether Kree can survive the loss of Stargate. Card efficient search is sooo critical to any Kree build.
Personally I'd be tempted to try Superman Lost City for a laugh. Keelix gives location search and both teams have character search cards.

I didn't say I didn't want it... and "they" would never even consider such a thing.
There is nothing wrong with powergaming, it just makes me smile in a Random Punk format.
And I seriously doubt that the EA Enemies will be on the line with a no-rare environment. This thread is about Hobby League.
But you are correct about one thing... that playmat is insane.

Check out metagame.com... Top 4 players each receive 1 copy of an extended art Enemy of my Enemy. I guess they decided that they were going to get people playing without rares; then give them the card they need most to transition decks to a more rare-based format. I think it's a cool concept, though parts of me always worry about non-scrupulous store owners.
I think we can stop this potential... if anyone doesn't have 4 EoMEs given out at thier city champs/hobby league thing, please report them. We want UDE to continue to give out things like this.

That's the Elite Series, not the Random Punks Hobby League. The Enemies will only be given to the stores and TOs that have proven to be scrupulous, and we do not know the format of the Elites yet.
Well I'mgoing to one of the CC with Fate-Squad , Another one I'm rocking the 60 G.C.P.D. Officers(Stu My buddy is bringing 60 Wild Sentinel deck to that one too) The last one I go to I'll bring TNNB.
Ah, I misunderstood... makes sense then. Guess we'll wait for the L33ts on the EoMEs. Meanwhile, I still need to win a playmat so I don't have to buy one off e-bay :).
If all the good budget aggro decks remain intact, then evading your characters wont help much. Last stand alone isn't good enough for a team that is only good in 30 card decks, especially when you can't search for it - and i doubt 4 bloodhound will be enough to support a very specific curve.
I agree. This was my main issue with Morlocks when I used to play them - they don't have any effective draw/cycling power. However, I did manage to find a way around that particular dilemma. My current build of the deck will reliably see, on average, two copies of Last Stand a game. I'm not sure if that is enough to make the deck viable, but it is a huge improvement over past builds.
- Sell it for super ######## inflated prices (Obv, obv)
- Rub it all over your body
- Rub it all over your body nude
- Rub it all over someone else's body
- Rub it all over someone else's body nude
- Rub it on everyone's body (Don't forget the hobo's! They're people too!)
- Rub it on every nude person you can (The hobo's like that one the best)
- It makes a flashy book mark
- Braid it into your hair!
- Bedazzle it (Make it even more foil)
- Sharpen the edges and use it as a throwing star (Buying into that untapped ninja market would bring big money into VS!)
- Take a bunch of them, sitck them together, flatten them out, and make a baked potato (Get it? It's cause they're foil. I'm so clever...)
Oh, yeah, I guess you could play them or whatever...
Looks like I'll be playing my Morlocks beat deck, which has faired pretty damn well.
Kang-Bang is out, as the 6-drop Kang is very important. The 5-drop out of HoG is pretty good as well, and Damocles Base allows card cycling. In theory, KangBang could still work, but it would suck with no decent 6-drop except Tempus.
I was testing random punks this past week and one of the first deck I made was batows checkmate deck sans rares. I changed infamous 7s to cover fires, took out the enemies and stargates for a few more 2 drops, 3 remnant fleet, and 2 birthing chamber (chamber + rose is sweet). I never had a problem missing drops, I had a full press chain and the ideal topper in all of about 10 games, once or twice i had to drop an extra 2 instead of a 3 or a 4 but thats it. As awesome as cover fire is I found I really didnt even need it, they usually just save your 2 drops or a tiny amount of damage and the 2 drops are getting replayed each turn anyways. I'm temptd to go more aggro though I do like my security blanket of cover fires. We tested morlocks too, and while they aer a ##### to play against because you have so much to take into consideration, they usually lost, even with huge boards and hill and chamber digging for shrapnels and last stands. Its a decent deck, but not quite good enough. And yah there is no good row hate or ahmed hate so obviously ahmed decks and row reliant decks will set the meta until people start packing #### like kreon and no man + finishing move, of course then you just need to play more huntresses....
