Civil War, even though I didn't like it at all and feel it was vastly inferior to Annihilation, I feel it features the marvel teams/characters that need to be (re &)featured the most.
I would also like to see World War Hulk getting lumped with it because of how both storylines are tied together, and frankly, most characters did not suffer enough changes from the end of CW to WWH to guarantee a new version(They would have to reprint "Iron Man, Moustache-Twirling... Hero?" in both sets, ba-dum TISH!). My team choices would be:
Hulk
Avengers(Secret and Mighty)
Thunderbolts
SHIELD
And either make New Warriors and Young Avengers as mini-teams or make it legacy heavy.
No "bad guys" team because of how ambiguous the whole story was supossed to be.
Annihilation and Annihilation: Conquest could be used for the set after Civil War. House of M, Messiah Complex and whatever other storyline comes out of the X-Books by then can be worked into the set after that one.
I will agree that from a marketing standpoint Civil War would be the best of these stories to print. It features teams that do need a refeature and allows for Legendary Captain America and Iron Man cards. However, I absolutely hated the story, so I refuse to vote for it. I also don't have any interest in Hulk and don't know anything about Annihilation, Messiah Complex or Secret Invasion so I didn't have any reason to vote for those. In the end I voted for the story that I enjoyed the most, House of M. I know it'll probably be a wasted vote (like voting for a third party candidate), but I stand by my decision. In the end, I just hope that whatever set wins ends up being a really fun set to play! I think it would have been amusing if Marvel Legends revolved more around House of M. Then Only Human could have been named "No More Mutants" or have that as its flavor text.
I voted Messiah Complex, because I'm still waiting for X-Factor Investigations, and the Heralds set was basically Annihilation.
No, no, no. Heralds was definitely not Annihilation. Annihilation needs multiple Annihilus, his queens, the Centurions, the Nova Corps, a modern Drax, modern Nova, modern Gamora, Star-Lord, Praxagora, Tenebrous and Aegis etc. There was, what, a non-Annihilation Super Skrull (just as a Skrull in the set as opposed to the leader he was), a Gamora and Drax from Infinity Watch days and a new Negative Zone? That is not Annihilation.
Oh, I know it wasn't literally Annihilation, but it was close enough for my taste. Annihilation was undeniably awesome, but it's honestly close enough to the Heralds set...not to mention we're just now getting the Galactus raid...that I would rather see something else.
Sorry, but saying it was close enough is like saying the Marvel Legends set is close enough to House of M. Sure, some of the same characters are there, and while they aren't quite done the way they were in House of M, it would be close enough, right? That's just how it feels to me.
I mean, was the Avengers set close enough to Civil War that if Avengers had been made 3 sets ago, you would say no to Civil War? It features the same characters and while the teams may be different and completely weird to say it is Civil War-related, MAV is as close to Civil War as MHG is to Annihilation.
Much like Big Spooky I really wanted to see Secret Wars as a choice, but since it wasn't I picked World War Hulk. Civil War will win, but WWH is a way better story.
Voting for any of the stories that are in progress or haven't happened yet is a really bad idea. Doesn't anybody else remember how completely messed up Infinite Crisis was in terms of reflecting the storyline?
The whole idea behind a story-based set is that it has a stronger connection to the source material and a theme to it. An unfocused mess of flavour like Infinite Crisis is what's in store if we end up with Secret Invasion, and possibly Messiah Complex too.
Civil War's the best choice. The Avengers are begging to be re-featured and we would most likely get SHIELD, which is about friggin' time. Messiah Complex would be yet another damn X-Men set. World War Hulk would have some pretty vaguely defined teams with a ton of filler and so would House of M. Secret Invasion I already covered above. What would we get with Annihilation? Nobody Joe Q. Public gives a crap about, which is the last kind of set this game needs right now.
Civil War would probably look more appealling to the average person than any of the other ideas, which is yet another feather in its cap.
I voted for Civil War because of the teams would be great
We dont need any more X teams for a while, and I think Annilation will be a great set next year after conquest is done
