Honestly, I think all this anti-kings games sentiment is a bunch of bs. Especially from some people who have dealt with neutral on a week to week basis feeding us the same bs he did in one mega-weekend.

We are the ones in this situation who have him "by the juevos". We have an old school mob sitdown with him and say, listen, we'll bring all the yugi-oh, magic, ufs, etc people we can from neutral to your store if you let us run our hobby league as we see fit. Given a person of his particular persuasion (a business man, ahahah, what did you think I was talking about you racist), he will probably be keen to our proposal. Just like they said in a bronx tale, "if all it takes is x amount of money to know the character of someone, it's worth it". We already know his character but more importantly, we know his character's cost. So let's shift his a$$ in line, eat up his resources and stun his field until we find another hidden area and pull an endgame on his ### and scoop his field.

This is true, and I did not want to be the first to say it. Neutral Ground frequently displayed some of the same problems that Kings showed with MegaWeekend NY. The only problem, however, is that Neutral Ground (particularly from a VS. perspective) showed very little to no signs of improving their league, and would display shamelessly outdated practices that disenchanted many players.
I was once consulting with an employee at NG who was asking me how to improve attendance at Hobby League and marquee events. I pointed out that the site and the store did not actively advertise the events, nobody was actively communicating information about events to players, they did not sanction tournaments (!!!), and they gave outdated product for existing tournaments. I did not see how much care they put into their other games, but if they treated the other games half as poorly as they treated VS. system, then they were going toward this path willingly.
If you're willing to make a deal with KG, well that's your business. I've stated my opinion. I've suggested an alternative, however unreasonable it might actually be for you guys (I don't know your area well enough).
NG might not have been the greatest place to play (from my 2 Elite Series experiences there, the prizing seemed 'kinda lackluster but nothing horrible), but KG made NG look like saints, imo. You guys might have a better grasp on that.
Was the "Kings Games incident" really that bad? I just started getting into the game back in May, so I never got up to the whole tournament thing. I just play with some of my friends and we use my cards. I have bought from both Kings Games and Neutral Ground.
I remember I once went on a Tuesday to play VS at Neutral Ground and waited for almost an hour for someone to show up to play and nobody ever did. :disappoin I think that was the last time I tried playing there.
If something ever did come around to people playing at Kings, I think I would consider going to play there if others did.
What is the actual whole deal of the kings games stuff? anyone wanna give me a rundown?
more or less, kings hosted the mwny. they did not have the correct prizes. the i pod touches that were supposed to be given out were ipod shuffles (broken ones at that.) and the packs that we were supposed to get were exchanged for store credit, which we could not use to get the latest product (which i believe at that time was mun and mvl.) could not use it because alex said that those 2 were still brining in money. bad judging, and i think alex tried to get some people to draft heralds for one of the sealed events. HERALDS!!! WTF????
i believe that he sold the ipods, and kept all of the true proze support to get rid of most of his overstock. i dont think they got their prizes late at all. and even if they did, they could have told us at the beginning, and got the addresses of the winners and mailed it to them. NG and Kings run things very simliar when it comes to VS tournaments (NG does the same thing. we still have not gotten or zombie cards.) I am a normal NG costumer, but i have mixed feelings about their closing. in a way, it was deserved. but then that means that most of us no longer have a main place to play. not only vs, but yugi and magic as well.
I got my stuff and was happy but just about everyone else got screwed. Sealed Heralds was fun but not what I and my team came for. We came from about 3 hours south, got a hotel room, and ponied up gas money and we were only coming from south Jersey. I know the people who flew in were really pissed.
I specifically saved up for the sealed thinking they'd have enough product to support a few rounds of sealed instead of buying boxes. My money stayed in my wallet.
Small side note: Also not too happy with the results not being posted online at all other than as secondary reports. No UDE write up at all. Uber fail. My friends (who don't play), family, and co-workers asked me how I did, and I had nothing to show them.

wow kings actually have current product after heralds.. i didnt think there were any current vs players over at that aweful store thats charges 5 dollars everyday just to sit there and play some cards...(paying the fee i would understand if it was on a busy day like friday were magic is played heavily but every day.. nah its not that serious, i would rather play in the mc'd's across the street). kg practices arent consumer friendly.... i wont waste my time giving them any of my money

Cue the opening of cans of worms and the gnashing of teeth. Lots of bad stuff went down. I especially feel bad for the people that traveled to be victimized.
* Packs with which to play not received. No effort made by TO to replace packs from other stores. Instead, took packs from players. Status of shipped product never revealed.
* Prizes incorrect. Made no effort to compensate. Handed out broken incorrect product. Explanation never revealed.
* Restricted game winners from using store credit to purchase product deemed too "sellable."
* Mis-advertised prizes by promoting different sets prior to tournaments being conducted. Refused to use sets newer than nine sets old to play in sealed tournaments.
* No communication post-tournament from Kings, nor submission of decklists to UDE for posting. (Decklists still unknown from some top 8 players.)
It's not the problems were their fault; its that they made ZERO effort to make it okay. And for people that flew from across the country to participate, it was pretty inexcusable. Plus, no apology was ever extended from Kings, nor was the true situation regarding packs and prizes ever discussed.
I know that Neutral had problems with conducting tournaments. (They did it to us this past weekend, in fact.) But Hobby Leagues are one thing, and MegaWeekends are another.
So eff them. Who do we have to talk to at Hanley's to get that ball rolling?
I've done my share of griping about King's. Suffice to say that I will not be returning there...
NG wasn't great about VS, but at least they held hobby leagues and allowed the pro-active players to keep things going. I really hope that we can get Hanley's Manhattan to pick us up. Their central location is key for our community, having players from the bronx, brooklyn, queens, and manhattan. (Staten Island has a league! Although we love it when you guys join us.) I'll get an e-mail sent this weekend.

I work for Jim Hanley's Universe. Email [email protected] to show your support for gaming in the manhattan store. If there are any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]. (Please note I am not in authority to make any kind of decisions, but I can answer your questions in some form.) Thank you for your support. Please note that we realize that the sole burden for gaming in Manhattan will shift to our shoulders if we decide to take up gaming there, and we need to understand the pressures and complications from such a task. However, I myself do remain optimistic.
