I have been playing since Infinity Challenged. Having seen the game go through many changes, I do not think that this is the worst.
The worst was introducing team bases and resources. Those ruined the game and made me turn away for a year before coming back.
Second to those thinking this game does not need to be simplified. It does. There are way to many powers and it is beyond overly complicated. I have tried to teach this game to my students after school, around the same age I was when infinity challenge first came out. I picked it up quick, now there are so many different rules and powers that it is overwhelming for new players. And without new players this game will die. I have played countless games over the years and none is more complicated now than Heroclix is now in its current state.
So yeah I am all for them starting to simplify the game, which I know based on this community is an unpopular opinion. Especially considering the uproar when the sculpt size changed.
as upset as i am about this great big sweeping change, and i am, and yesterday's great big sweeping change, and i am, i'm mostly upset that great big sweeping changes keep coming. the foundation of this game has been replaced with shifting sand. nothing's stable. and core fundamentals of the game keep getting turned on their heads. am i remembering this year's version of last year's rules or have i gotten them mixed up? this feels like dc comics that keeps hitting the retcon button. no stability.
mostly i'm tired of waiting for the other shoe to drop. what core aspect that made this game unique are they going to toss away tomorrow? they keep "fixing" things that make this game great and ignoring actual issues that need addressing
this just isn't the game i love anymore. and i'm tired of investing time and passion and money (so much money) into a game that is no longer interested in giving me joy anymore. instead of getting frustrated at every turn from their continued agenda that is going in a direction i don't like, i'm just going to step away
i've got an evidence thread to run first, a custom set to wrap and another i've already all-but finished that i won't do a disservice to the work my past self put into by not posting, but it'll all definitely be designs for a game that's not really here anymore
Hey,
I feel you here. Having been playing since the beginning so many changes over the years have made the game hard to learn on a yearly basis. I constantly feel one step behind some players that have read the rulebook countless times to find a loophole that I am usually on the losing end of.
However, don't you think them bringing the game back to a simpler form over probably the next year or so will help offset this. Obviously not right away as the wonder woman set will be the first, but a year down the road I think this game will be fun again, at least that is my hope.

This feels like we’re in Iron Man 2, but instead of adding weapons to War Machine, Justin Hammer is taking away features until all we’re left with is the Ex-Wife

I often think WK's biggest problem is they their trying to hard to retain a base that can't except change "Feats oh no the sky is falling , oh look Team Bases the game over, oh, no POGS the game is over, and yet here we are in 2021 with no sign of imminent doom over the horizon (Well except for the Future Foundation set )

I want that team of Ex-Men just a bunch of bitter divorcees
I don't think having 'all those powers' is the complex part of Heroclix, I loved classic clix.
I think the traits and special powers making novels all over the place and making exceptions to the rules is what makes it over complex.
The people who will play this game are the people who like the mixtures of powers.
It's not fun when Captain America has nothing but Energy Shield/Deflection and Leadership. Is he easy to play? Yes. But he's not fun. Now Add Charge and Precision Strike, and he's becoming a blast. Is it really that much harder to understand? Not really. Again, the ones who are put off by that won't much like Heroclix in the long run anyway.

If this is Iron Man 2....Where are all the dancing ladies? or at least a heroclix map with Randy's Donuts? WK ....Where is my Donut map with 3-D DONUT?
They say the best weapon is one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once. That's how Dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far." Robert Downey/Tony Stark
Actually after a few giant sized characters from X-Men Animated and WWE I've been clix clean. I've actually been playing HorrorClix this past apocalypse to feed the clix hunger.
