We were playing a scenario where you can add to your base build each round. Round 1 I had no rally characters, round 2 I had Colossus. Round 3 I got the bye because...well...75 points.
My opponent had a couple characters on round 1. Round 2 had at least 5 Rally characters that I can remember. Jean Grey, Colossus, Wolvie, and a couple others. I rolled a 5 every turn, even 2 a turn. It was craziness. And almost all my attacks were 5 and `1 or 5 and 2, always missing the mark just barely. Misery is right haha!
I mean, to miss with Mystrique, Colossus, Daken, and Weapon X all in one turn, more than once per game? just wow. I got so killed. By round 2, I was more or less just coaching the new guy on how to beat me bad, because if you can't make your rolls, you may as well, right?
Bad juju abounds with this set.
I had 4 attacks against a 17 Toughness Smasher:
SR Gladiator: 10 vs 17, hit for 2 penetrating.
Prime Mimic: Flurry + CCE giving him a 12 vs a 17:
3
4
Daken: 11 vs 17:
5
Needless to say, my team lost.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
So playing with Rally in an actual game, it’s pretty easy.
Everyone forgot about it and no one could remember what dice just got rolled when they remembered it a minute later

The same way I have consistently played "X-Student" and "Assembled Bolts and Masters" among many others.
forgive me if its a stupid question that's already been asked, but can a fig use the rally powers (in the case of wolverine: regen) as per normal or only within the rally framework?
Does Wolvey just always have regen with a Rally schtick added, or only Regen via the Rally mechanic?

Definitely not a stupid question, it's been coming up pretty consistently which is a good sign that it's just poor formatting. Yes, the characters get powers and such in the Rally trait normally. Rally itself is just a trait like anything else. They really should have separated out the standard powers into their own traits, or at the very least added the // after them to make it stand out better.
I want to make this explicit: Not all RALLY powers grant a standard power, even if the RALLY mimics a standard power. A couple of examples: Dr. Moira McTaggart doesn't have any non-RALLY mechanism (aside from the X-Men Team Ability) to heal characters, and Destiny's RALLY is completely distinct from Probability Control (which she also has on the dial).
I am in agreement that breaking the "traited" powers into defined traits would have been cleaner; this could get (even more) ugly if a character appears that "neutralizes" RALLY traits.
[The lack of dedicated to grant standard powers strikes me as very lazy, as the number of characters this actually affects is very small and it isn't as if those dials are otherwise cluttered with complicated powers]
Hey thanks for the answers folks.
Thats was how it looked to me but this new "less complicated and yet far more complicated" WK is hurting my head.
and don't get me started on Colossus with BCF!

The only problem I'm having with Rally is remembering that there isn't any kind of line-of-fire or range limitation to it, which just feels really odd.

That feeling gets even worse with the Destiny from this set. I pulled her in sealed and, well, kinda felt really bad about using her.
