The fig is beautiful. I like what someone said earlier about there being a trade off. A larger range would have made her cost more and also make her more powerful, this helps keep things toned down a little. Great addition to my X-Men team, now I need some good additions to my Avengers team.
Originally posted by sinistersex just curious, i dont follow DC clix as well as i should...but are there any figures that should have been big, powerful figures but were toned down for whatever reason in DC? here we have Phoenix, and before we had Adam Warlock, and possibly Surfer.
Sweet Monkey Jesus, yes!
Let's see, REV Superman, Darkseid (in some people's opinion), U Batgirl (!!!!!!), and a few others.
But overall, no biggie, really.
As for Phoenix, this is "Rachel" Summers, not Jean Gray as Phoenix. Rachel was displaced from a future reality and is Jean and Scott's ... I want to say ... daughter? I forget exactly (and you can never rule out the future clone or impersonating alien in Marvel )
Rachel was cool and pretty powerful, but NOT "Phoenix - Eater of Worlds" powerful. Nowhere NEAR that level of power (until some goofy stuff at the end of her normal run). The stats and powers seem to be a fairly good representation of her, actually.
Who knows, we may even get a nice big Dark Phoenix in an upcoming set?
In memory of Masada.
And my totally sweet ninja name is: Yoshio Yamada -san (evilgenius).
The sculpt is a little over the top for my tastes, and 6 range is bummer but I won't make any final judgements until I see her dial in full. Having her mom TK her into PW range my be an interesting theme team strategy.
But a cool sculpt doesn't make the figure playable. She'll see good use in home scenarios, but for tournament play, I just can't justify the cost.
oh well, there's still 11 other uniques to go
Ummm, seriously? Did you read this part, dude?

The Rachel Summers Phoenix is a powerful front-line fighter. She starts with 10 speed, 11 attack with Pulse Wave, 16 defense with Super Senses, 3 damage with Ranged Combat Expert, and 6 range with two targets.

Well, she's not their son, so yes, I'd have to say daughter.

She's from an alternate future timeline, the 'Days of Future Past' furture where the Sentinals have taken over America and killed/hunted down/imprisoned all the superhumans. IIRC, her mother is actually the Phoenix, not Jean Grey, in her reality Dark Phoenix was cured of her madness instead of commiting suicide. But maybe I'm wrong, Claremont was probably already insane by the time he created her .....
