I think that Apoc made Essex into a freak, I don't think Essex made himself all that crazy...though I know he did do SOME stuff, but the whole white skin/crazy powers was Apoc's doing....

For a guy who can survive having a manhole-sized chunk blown out of him by an optic blast and laugh, doesn't Toughness seem like something of an understatement?
Hence the 10 clicks of life and Regen.
I've never seen Sinister prove to be anything more than a durable scientist. I've never seen him blast his way through an army - or tangle with the Marvel power houses.
The X-men have defensive values of 15 and 16 - easily hittable with a 9 attack - plus he has Perplex to use as needed.
Power-wise he is dead on. Regardless of who he is teamed up with - he's never going to take on V Dr. Doom, LE Zatanna, R Robin and R Steel
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
At first glance I was disappointed with him... but the more I think about it the more I like him. The only thing that really hurts him, in my opinion, is the 6 range. If it were an 8 range I would be singing his praises. As it is he sounds useful. He will definately make it onto a theme team with Goblin Queen and a "brainwashed" Cyclops sometime in the near future, I assure you.
I think he's best used having him hang back in the early game, perplexing his minions then coming out of the shadows once he opposition has taken some damage. Mid-game he will be a monster to contend with. 17def w/Inv once you've softened up the opposition can be quite the difficult hill to climb. At that point the 9 attack should not be a big issue either.
He might be worth using to venture out, just within range so he can blast a brick while it's tied up with his minions, early on, though that strategy might be a bit risky.
10 clicks of life and regen at the end... even if he's not that great mid-end dial I'm think he'll be there til the end.
"Come on Hulk! Where's the old boasting? The battle cries? Why aren't you bellowing about how you're 'the strongest one there is'? Could it be because... you know it's not true?"
"No. Because it's just too obvious."

That's not true.. A legionnaire, Spidey, or MoD can all affect figures if there is a Superman (or Ultimates) TA. Live Wire is a prime example of RCE and Legionnaire.

Well he actually has a 7 Range - that Perplex is what makes him really useful.
Based by a fig with Invulnerability? Perplex up damage.
Just out of range? Perplex up range.
Trying to hit a fig on hindering terrain? Perplex up his attack.
Don't want to push him - Perplex up a teammate.
The Perplex is what really improves his value. Park him on hindering for an 18 defense with Invulnerability and you've got a good addition to a 300 point team. I can find 194 points of figs to surround him with - Sabretooth, Mystique, Destiny, Beast, etc...
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
I'll also add that he may prove to be excellent Mastermind fodder for 103 points... 10 clicks of life, one INV, multiple toughness and Regen on the back end... and excellent support powers in perplex and outwit... With a 17 defense you don't have to worry too much about someone taking out your fodder easly before taking on your lead guy, either.
Dr. Doom, meet your new Sponge for a good badguy team (400+).

Yeah I agree. The sculpt is pretty classic and certainly looks strong. But there are a few things that will make or break Mr. Sinister namely whether he keeps a 9 attack for 2-3 clicks. He looks acceptable - Sinister has always been a behind the scenes player. IMHO he should have rolled off invulnerable into mastermind which more accurately depicts him using other mutants to accomplish tasks. What is really retarded is the fact that he has more life then his master Apocalypse. Apocalypse is the first mutant, who has lived throughout the entire history of civilized man. An immortal force ... with 9 clicks of life *sigh* ... anyway, so not so much a complaint about Mr. S but more a reminder of how badly the big A got the shaft. And actually Mr. S is probably more deserving of leadership then Apoc., Mr. S has organized and lead two significant teams of mutants ... So we have a unique stud bad mutant will we see a unique stud good mutant *cough* Cable !!! *cough*
Mr. Sinister can only be hurt by Cyclops' optic blasts, so I think he should have more than 1 click of invulnerability, maybe two, maybe three. I think a ten attack would be perfect for him, then a nine. The perplex and outwit are perfect for him, maybe a click of 3 damage. I think range should be 8. He's not super powerful, but he is no joke.
