I probably told this story before, but one of the best officers I ever worked for (now a Colonel at the Pentagon) told me about how he loved GI Joe figures in the 1960's. The larger scale ones. He had a sizable collection and things like the Mercury space capsule, a helicopter, and a few other items. Sometime during the mid-late '90's his mom gave them away to an interested neighbor.
A decade or so later and they are back in his home city in Kansas in an antique store, and he sees his EXACT collection on prominent display. His toys' markings/defects were still exactly the same as they'd been 30 years earlier. But a price of $4G. And unlike most stories, his mom and dad were with him when they saw this.
No, because I will cry when I see how much the sliding light sabre figures go for, and the vehicles I had, and all the stuff I sold at rummages for like 2 for a $1.
I weep.
I sold most of my Star Wars and GIJoe stuff over the last year and it sold well enough to make several house payments and buy some clix and TPBs.
I'm on a teleconference right now, and have been perusing sold listings for Star Wars figures on eBay.
Could not BELIEVE the cost of the Boba Fett, R2-D2, Death Star Admiral (or whatever he was called), Greedo (who you could not trade for crap back in the day), and so many more that go for $$$. Damnit. I hoarded a bunch of well worn comics and near worthless baseball cards, and gave those figures away for a song
On an unrelated topic, I was really excited when I saw that someone has a full set of the out of print Dracula miniatures I've been looking for on ebay. And then I saw that he wanted $325 for them.
