Haven't had the chance to execute this one yet...and forgive me if it has been mentioned already. Energy Explosion targeting objects or walls adjacent to opposing figures with Shape Change.

Oh... wow.
Is that legal? Checking the wording, it seems like it is!

Hmmm.....I don't think this would work because a wall/object/blocking isn't a "target" that is hit. I think only characters can be "targets".
"an area of effect may include all untargeted characters that are adjacent to one or more hit targets."
Why isn't a wall or object a target? If you could point me to the rulebook reference I'd appreciate it.
Rulebook pg. 15
DESTROYING OBJECTS
Objects can be destroyed using the rules for
destroying a square of blocking terrain (see p. 13).
A character in the same square as an object does
not take damage when the object is destroyed. An attacker can’t target both a character and an
object with the same attack. A destroyed object
is removed from the game and does not cause a
debris marker to be placed.
In advertently, that says that objects can be targeted. In addition, nothing in the
Destroying Blocking terrain sections explicitly says otherwise.
rulebook pg. 13
DESTROYING BLOCKING TERRAIN
A square of blocking terrain can be destroyed by a
single attack that deals at least 3 damage. When
a character attacks blocking terrain, the attack
automatically succeeds. A close combat attack
can be used to destroy a square of blocking terrain
adjacent to the attacker. A ranged combat attack
can be used to destroy a square of blocking terrain
by drawing a line of fire to the center of the square of
blocking terrain; the line of fire is not blocked by the
target square in this instance.
DESTROYING WALLS
A close combat attack can be used to destroy a
wall segment along the edge of the square the
character occupies. A ranged combat attack can
be used to destroy a wall segment but only if a
single line of fire can be drawn to the center of the
square on the other side of the wall segment that
also crosses the other square along the same edge
as the wall segment. The squares on each side of
the wall must be within the attacking character’s
range as shown in Figure 11; in this case, the line
of fire is not blocked by the chosen wall segment
or a character occupying the targeted square. All
other requirements for destroying a wall are the
same as those for destroying blocking terrain.

Reason: Rulebook references
...collapse a figure's skull with a heavy object, while deciding whether I want to make sure the attack HITS, or if I want my maximum of 3 extra damage via CCE. KC Dianna's great for this.
"A" is "A". And no matter what universe he's from, Luthor... is Luthor.
Anyone turtled 3 AoU 019 Hulks to stack the Trait:
THE ORIGINAL INCREDIBLE HULK: If the first close combat attack made during an opponent's turn doesn't target Hulk, modify the attacker's attack and damage values by -1
Comes to 240pts. Maybe in a 500pt team with a solid main attacker? Might try it. Would have to borrow 2 which would raise eyebrows.

There has been figures that do something like this already and the work around at 500 is have some jobber with an 8 take a swing.
Then once the big negative is spent, hit 'em hard.
At 300 it would be a bigger annoyance. Bigger builds, less so.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.

Errata and Clarification prevents this unfortunately.

I don't see the errata and clarification for Energy Explosion on the brand spanking new win.wizkids.com It isn't mentioned in the March 23, 2015 errata and changes.
I found the text blocking area of effect encompassing figures, from targeting object, wall, or blocking terrain with energy explosion.
Page 12 of 2014 rulebook. No Game effect can target or attack a character in addition to a piece of terrain or object with the same attack, even if they occupy the same square.

Currently it's turning hypersonic beatsticks into giants via AoU003 Ant-Man. No need to roll for breakaway when you swing from 2 squares away and he has perplex to bump ATK/DMG/DEF as needed. Works REALLY well with the recent 170pt. Ms. Marvel.
