I just threw up in my mouth! The texture, the smell and the taste are all God awful. Some how though, I like marinara sauce, salsa, ketchup and even pico de gallo.
Wishing for competitive Judge Dredd figures for Modern Age...WizKids are you listening?!?!

At one time I also disliked tomato but liked most tomato products. This was mostly as a kid. I wouldn't touch tomatoes, but tomato soup was a staple. But eventually tomatoes became tolerable, and then even enjoyable, through natural changes in taste buds.
Fresh tomatoes add a freshness (obvs) and lightness factor to whatever they're a part of, and no other food adds those things on a level equal to tomatoes. Salad is already fresh and light, but tomatoes enhance it greatly. And I think this is why the classic BLT is such a big thing for us. You have the salty, greasy, heaviness of bacon, and then you slice through it with fresh, light, tomato and snappy lettuce...it really is a perfect combo.
I like the flavor of (some) onions, but cannot eat raw or lightly cooked, it is a texture thing with me.
I cook with a lot onion powder and minced dehydrated onions, they are small enough that I cannot feel that limp/crunchy texture when I chew. That and non-fried okra are the only foods that I am aware of that I have an aversion to.
Now I do not like ASSparagus, brussels sprouts, cooked spinach or cooked cabbage, but can eat them. I love spinach and cabbage raw.
I know Wintermute does, but if any of you others like HOT food, the Ghost Pepper Chex mix is on fire. I ended up diluting it 50/50 with Bold though so I do not sweat as much. The warning label is spot on.

I found it at the local Publix.
I love HOT food. I will keep an eye out for it. Should I check 7-11? cause I have no idea what a publix is.

I agree with this. I never liked tomatoes as a kid. One of the big reasons is that my mom would always cut them thick so that inner mucus part surrounding the seeds was a large encompassing area and a huge turn off. I learned later that tomatoes are really good and need to be cut appropriately for each type of meal you are eating.
As someone who eats everything and can eat everything I don't understand a few choices people make. Food aversions or as George Carlin would call them "picky eaters", there's got to be a way to make that food edible for you. --and-- limiting your eating options because of a choice and not because of an actual health issue.
I understand food aversions and why people have them, I just think that options could be explored more especially if are an adult and haven't eaten the food since childhood.
Limiting your eating options by choice instead of health reasons has for the most part made it so that so many restaurants have such long and crappy menus because they want to appeal to as many people as possible. The amount of writing on menus at the bottom is becoming silly denoting the different limitations people put on themselves; spicy, dairy free, gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, kosher, hallal, fish, peanut-free, farm raised, grass fed, organic, keto, paleo, and atkins friendly and the list goes on. Despite being American I hate going to "American restaurants" because of this because they can't prepare "American dishes" as good as I can because of all that stuff above. The silver lining is that I don't spend $$$ eating at those places. If you want to eat at one of those specialty places it will cost a lot more too.
TL;DR Phant is making a rant cause he was in the mood and passionate about food and eating.

Picky is a choice, Food Allergies is not a choice. I acquired an adult onset peanut allergy at age 29, a PBJ on Tuesday was fine, the one I ate on Thursday almost killed me. My oldest is allergic to anything with the word "nut" in it and also sesame, those warnings keep us alive.
