I just don't think I'd be comfortable with any decision I'd make in the booth without investing a colossal amount of my daily life into political study. And I'm not sure what level of information would be necessary for me to be comfortable.

Gonna say the same thing I said to Stan. Only about 2% of people actually know a significant amount about politics and all the stuff that goes on. I'm a huge politics/news junkie, and I STILL admit to knowing very little. The rest either rely on a handful of issues, or allow others to inform them on the plusses and minuses of candidates. There's no shame in allowing others to help you in decision making.
For instance, looking at FB it appears you are in... New York? That doesn't sound right, I thought you were in the Midwest. Anyway, you may have Palladino on your ballot. The dude's crazy. You don't want crazy running things.
When people tell me it's a choice between the "lesser of two evils", I just tell them, "Sure, but you know what that means? The other one is more evil"
"Why would the possibility of me being wrong ever stop me from doing something?"
Voting is for people who make a hobby out of watching the news and reading reports and understanding a great deal more about our government than I really ever want to.
Now now. We know that's not true at all.
I'd bet dollars to donuts that more people who vote don't know what they're doing than those who do.
I'm just going to sit back and relish the irony of this particular conversation taking place in a subforum that's devoted almost entirely to voting solely on hunches.

Facebook doesn't believe Grand Island, NE exists. It's confusing to those who don't know where I actually live, but it makes more sense to those that know me, than to say I live in Kearney or Lincoln.

I think it's partly the name. The notion of a place called "Grand Island" existing more than 600 miles from the closest major body of water is too much for Facebook to comprehend.

Is how I tend to do it, except for Senate this time around...there is no way the democrat is going to win, and I really dislike the write-in republican woman man thing...

True story: I thought it was a name of irony or stupidity for my first 5 years living here.
Another true story: When the city started to flood from two days of rain, and the stories from the older guys at work explained that the land my house was on used to be underwater 40 years ago, I realized that the name was heavily based in fact. There is a dam to the south of the city, and another to the north, that keep the city from being a lake.
