I went into a few places today myself. Target, wal-mart, and K-mart. I didn't see anything. Hopefully they are just sticking to the release date and my worst fear of it being forgotten someplace won't come true.
It would be really helpful to know what retailers to seek them out in. If distribution was wide enough I'm sure whole gravity feeds won't be getting bought out entirely. Especially since full retail is what most likely will be paid.
On the early release thread Munchoboy stated that Neca's/Wizkid's (don't remember which) Facebook said stated that it was a Target-only exclusive release and it was targeted for a May 18th release. That said, it has started to show up in some midwest locations (Indiana & Iowa) as well as being on sale at Universal Studios in Florida for the last week.
I just took a look-see and a seller offering a complete Gravity Feed set on eBay describes it as something that's not only a Target exclusive, but -- worser yet still -- one that's only available in "limited quantities at select Targets."
"Select"??? WTF???? Well, that's one way to encourage the next wave of disciples of He Who Got Banned...I guess...
Bad feeling have I.
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!

Luckily, that's not true! It does stink that it's available only at Target because that means I must make a trip to Plattsburgh at some point. I'm also unhappy that the new Toys R Us exclusive Sentinels and Apocalypse are only available at "select TrU stores".

Seems this isn't about the customers so much as testing the waters for wider distribution networks. If it does well then target might commit to larger quantities of product down the road. So we aren't supposed to know where or how to get them we are just supposed to buy them like they are going out of style in whatever target they are found in.
My second hypothesis would be that they just didn't make enough product to go around to all the targets and other big chain stores.
It could just be a combination of the two.
This is as always just speculation and conjecture on my part.
Maybe those of you who are smarter than I could explain this. I've noticed a few members talking about how they are going to Targets and buying all their boxes. I don't understand this unless they are using them as prize support at their local venues, but these figures are common enough that there is no way they will sell them at a profit when you calculate shipping. So why are they going around buying them by the box full?

Look on eBay. People are selling full sets for much more then they're worth.
There's been reports of sets selling for $120 and $70.
For some of our Ogre brethren that are close to Toys R Us, depending on the price point, I may have someone pick me up a Colossal, or two, or three, or four!
I've got an idea for 3 of the 100 point Sentinels. If you combine their trait with their SP, you can effectively lock down an opposing figure. It may be one of those things that's better in my head than it is on the map, but in theory it's pretty solid.
It's like Michael Jordan going to the YMCA to play basketball.

I think the closest TrU on the list is 3-4 hours away from me. It kinda stinks because these are the kinds of figs that I don't want to trade for, but I would buy them if I was in TrU picking up Minimates.
So I recall some of you used to play Star Wars Minis. Did the Target exclusives hurt the game at all? How much did they go for on the secondary market? And were they a comparable product to these Toys R Us exclusive colossals? By which I mostly mean, did they have different stats from the non-exclusive versions, or just different paint jobs?
Edit: There's a Toys R Us about half an hour from where I live that one of my buddies and I occasionally drive out to for various things, so assuming that they do carry the colossals I don't mind picking a bunch up and shipping them to you folks who don't get them locally for sticker price and shipping in the event that they actually do go for more on the secondary market.

There's one about an hour away from me. If we happen to be up that way for other things, I'll check, but it could be a situation where I don't go back up that way for a month or longer, which could mean they are long gone before I'm able to look for them.

I was out of the game by that point, but I recall what you're talking about. I don't think it really hurt the game that much. They weren't game breaking or anything and if I recall it was a large set that was priced at like 50.00 or higher. They may have come out with smaller sets later on but I'm not certain on that.
