Maybe it is harder to explain clearly, but I'll try.
The divide between the current state of the game, and the original intent of the game-"Play your favorite Super Heroes and bring battles to life" or whatever some of the old slogans said- is a huge, gaping maw. Bigger than your mom's vagina after Fleet Week.
I cannot think of an extended period of time like this, ever, where one element (resource dials and pseudo resource dial Entities) so dominate the game. It was one thing to fight a "broken" figure like IconsV Supes, OOtS Bats, Skrullvel, or whatever, with figures that were not as powerful, or to use a strategy to mitigate the advantages such figs held.
Today it feels more like an accepted permanent state of something like SIF. Sure, your venue can play whatever they want, but the only thing that really matters is resource dial and Entities on whatever your favorite flavor is. At least in any game that "counts" on the big scene.
There are a couple local venues that only play tournies now on the WoL style events. Few people show up for them otherwise. Most of the fun, casual gamers have scattered to their caves to play secretly, like the ####ing French Maquis trying to hide from the occupying Germans.
But it's really only like that if the venue supports that kind of play. I'm sure it's not like this everywhere, and I'm not deluded enough to think that my venue represents the entire Clix populace, but we don't generally have problems with it. Or at least, we didn't when I left it. I guess I'll find out when I come back if we've stayed that way.
My favourite flavour is the only thing that's ever mattered to me. P.S. It's rocky road.
I like the replacement wing on the X-Wing! A quick air brush or a flat wash would have given even more "field depot replacement" feel to it. Cool idea.
