True story, in high school I had the usual job working at McDonald's. One day I was working on the truck deliveries. This included both food and beverages.
Now, the syrup for many of the varieties of pop* was shipped in large, valved bags. The syrup for the regular Coke, however, was stored in a giant vat which was filled from an even larger vat on the truck.
The truck guy attached the hose to our Coke vat and told me to go keep an eye on it while he went to begin pumping the syrup.
The hose was clear, so I was able to see the syrup progressing towards the vat. I watched it go up to the connection which was apparently not done correctly. As soon as it reached the connection it began to spray everywhere like when you put your thumb over the end of a garden hose. Within seconds I was covered in Coke syrup from head to toe.
Good lord, that was disgusting.
* Yes, it's pop, not soda.
I thought this story was funny enough that I read it out loud to someone. I replaced "pop" with soda since "pop" sounds stupid and soda is correct.
Pop is the term for correct LPC usage, so sayeth Ofin the Wise and Almighty, Great and Benevolent.
Hey, I say soda also, but who am I to argue with Ofin?

Who are you to speak for Ofin?! Blasphemer!
Well the bank won't give me credit because i'm a bad risk and I don't pay my bills on time. So I have to work for what I have!

That's actually the correct full form. "Soda" by itself can mean any number of things, including baking soda and soda water. "Soda pop" clarifies that we're talking about a fizzy carbonated beverage. "Pop" is the superior shortened form, due to the aforementioned ambiguity of "soda."
