So some quick back-story. There's 4 of us + the DM. Joseph was reckless, and his gambling sometimes paid off big (he was suddenly very wealthy), or it didn't...he died. So my character (Barrin) is in denial that Joseph is dead. He thinks there was an escape plan or something that kept him alive.
We're going to our party's next target, but we also realize we need more than just the 3 of us to be safe. So we stop at a largish town along the way to see if we can find people willing to join our adventure (i.e., bring in the replacement character for dead Joseph). We meet him (Sterling), but Barrin is skeptical of this dandy looking dude, and has reservations. The other original member of the party, Valek, seems to have no problem with this new guy. In fact, since he's holding all of Joseph's money (in our bag of holding, which he has because he's a lawful good cleric and the most trusted), he thinks we need to spend that money on supplies (potions, magic weapons, armor, etc).
Barrin is all, that's Joseph's money, and we'll give it back to him when we find him. Barrin is talked into buying some supplies, but is really upset when Valek wants to spend the majority of the money on some Black Dragon Leather Armor for Sterling (the new guy). We just met him, he hasn't totally committed to the party, he's a former pirate, and this isn't our money. So, a lot of the time was spent arguing while shopping.
We got some healing potions for the group.
Sterling got the Dragon armor.
Redcliff (the 4th member of the party, a dwarf) got a bad-ass sword (which was also super expensive).
I (Barrin) got some +1 arrows.
Valek didn't get anything for himself.
I guess the real question is...
Do you have to let it linger?
I would not.

Unless you're talking about the smell and/or what to do about the body as it decays...get the embalmer in!
(either after you've finished or using the back door!)
Many different worlds. Kinda the point. In this world, the Dwarves don't limit themselves on the weapons or armor or alcohol they can use. If it makes you feel better, he was using a hammer before he fell in love with that sword.
