I don't see the JF R10 to be the poorest. It has more movement range than the other R10s giving a tank drop a little more range. The high AV also means it can dual role as a nasty combat vehicle.
Actually the DF R10 is also a 10 move. It's just got ballistic instead, making it much more valuable in most APC roles. The R10s, as a class, became much less effective when they unretired. They were a bit weak as APCs against the Bishops and can't really compete with J-37s, Garrots and Zahns.

AoD gave JF the best gunslingers the faction can recruit. They may not be in JF colors, but Jade Hawks like Milagro and Blitz led many JF armies to victory teaching the power of Merciless.
Firepower gave the best mechs with Black Rose, the Goshawks and the Jaguars, probably still the best pack light there is. The Zeus may still be the best close in assault there is.
JF has the most accurate and threatening infantry and tanks in the game. IMO, that makes the CJF combined arms the one to beat.
CJF's relatively uber tanks and infantry are balanced by short ranges. It's not an awful trade; I think it works here since they do tend to get better AVs. It's just mechs that has the remarkable hit-miss issue.
Tirrex_falcon check the mobilization point for it. The Moderators lately have been moving armies for review from here over to there because that's where it's suppost to go. This forum is suppost to only be for discussing tactics.
Any one want to start a "Clan Jade Falcon Mech Bay" Thread for Falcon armies and Tactics over at mobilization point? Then we can take tactics here and link the other thread so that people can see the army build for which we are refering to.
Number one. No it won't change with the pilots issued before Domination. From pilots issued from Domination onwards, JF recruit costs have gone down to "normal". You do realize that if you put Bazooka Findley to Black Rose, she does not pay extra for that recruitment, but Black Rose will still have faction abilities like Merciless.
Lilkewise, if I get Alan Plisskin to Milagro and recruited him to JF, he only pays normal recruit costs but the entire combination with Milagro can still have Merciless and other faction abilities.
It's a loophole yes, and WK probably left that open while aware of it, mainly because I think it's not worth closing.
For Number 2, with staff removals I wonder if they got the staff to put Outlaws together. They would be doing this right now. But to be honest, I'm not that optimistic and I'm not even sure if we will make it all the way to a set beyond Wolf Strike.
For Number 3, if I was a remaining member in WK now, I would be so concerned for my future job security that I would be sending resumes to other companies and won't have the time, energy or awareness to "listen" to players.

Agreed. The move to eliminate FAs was done to reduce rulebook space and thereby complexity. Adding a new 'compensation' mechanism would be counter-productive.

As a wild-### guess, I'd say they're probably past Outlaws. I suspect that they are generally a set or two ahead of the release curve. I think the trouble area would be just after Outlaws, but that'll be clearer once Wolf Strike is out and Outlaws and the set after start to preview.

I wonder how much MW would cost from Topps if I won the lottery... :)
Well the first sneek peeks are up and while they don't actually give the stats we do have the little blurb about each and I figured we might as well give thoughts on our, the Mad Cat MK IV. For those who haven't seen it yet here's what the starting stats look like
Primary: Energy (Two Targets) 0/12 range, 6 Damage
Secondary: Ballistic (Three Targets) 0/8, 3 damage
Speed: 8 with Evade
Attack: 10
Defense: 19 with Decoy
Vent: 2
Heat has two clear clicks with one heat sink on click 4 and a weapons ofline, ammo explosion, and shutdown on click 5.
Now at first I kind of cringed at the 19 defense but as I think about it I'm not as worried about it. I believe that the pilot of choice (maybe even must) is Aiko Ryohara. Sure that may nonly bring the defense to 21 but the evade and decoy for a 23 decoy at range is actually pretty high for us. The biggest advantage I see here though is the on dial decoy and evade giving us a heavy mech with two of the most useful gear choices in the game on dial and leaving room for other gear. To me Aiko and IT are the way to go for the 23 decoy and 11 IT, pretty good numbers in my book. The speed is a little dissapointing though with our shorter ranges but 12" is more then I know some of us were expecting. The heat is pretty unspectacular but very workable with evade and the damage is very nice.
To sum up it has potential in my mind. Close combat and special attacks worry me but it is pretty tough at range and it has very good on dial SEs. I don't think it outclasses our Loki (something I think is hard to pull off anyways) but it does bring something new to the table. At the cost though and with such low defense I'm either expecting the gear to last for a little bit, have a rather stable dial or have late dial IT. Of course I could just be wrong and the evade and decoy are only there for a short time and still jacking up the cost. Not game breaking, but not alltogether dissapointing or unplayable and an okay start to our WS lot. I'm hoping the Vulture does turn out better than this but if not I won't be crying bloody murder like with the Thor.
A step up from the Thor. But I find it expensive for its range and defense. Nonetheless having the Evade and the Decoy is something, and shortens what we need to put on this thing to work. This one is clearly looking for Aiko + IT or 2+ attack pliot plus Pulse or PPC Cap or RISC Hyper Laser. If you can keep this away from close combat freaks, you will be fine. This is where a good investment of basers like shamashes would help.
Now bring us the Vultures. I most want to see what the Liao and CJF Vulture has to bring.
I won't be surprised to see low base defense + evade become the new Jade Falcon paradigm.
Looking at the dial, I could live with this setup. 19 decoy DV for 3 clicks + evade for 2 clicks, then on click 4 it jumps to 20 DV no decoy. There are some options here. Now if we could just get a +2 DV pilot that we didn't have to spend 14 points on to recruit into a mech with out FA's then we would have a power house. :devious:
