Just came back from watching Taken 2, had another free movie pass to use. Really wasn't that good plus they were setting up for Taken 3 too much I felt.
Honestly, I thought it was phenomenal. It's more of an older people's movie, but I really liked it. I can't imagine too many people under 30 really enjoying it. But that said, check out the trailer. It's a pretty accurate idea of what the movie's about and then you'll know if it's hit or miss for you.

Wife and I watched "American Reunion" last night. It wasn't FANTASTIC. About what you would expect. It's really been kind of a neat movie experience, though. These movies started at about the time I was the characters' ages and the progression that they've had in their movie universe is fairly parallel to what I've lived as far as different milestones go. Almost as if I've grown up with them. Like I said, they aren't groundbreaking movies by any means, but I appreciate them for what they are.

I enjoyed a little for what it was, but it was just way too over the top ridiculous and way too many illogical scenes and plot holes.
I won't say the first movie was realistic, but it wasn't completely unbelievable either. He was just a desperate dad who was really good at what he did. In this movie he turned into Jason Bourne.
I did like the idea of it though (the daughter being useful this time, even if it was a little ridiculous) and there were some good lines. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't nearly as good as the first.

I saw Taken 2 the other day, just for something to do. I was surprised at how well it turned out, despite the absurd revenge premise. Once you get past that, it works. Certainly doesn't hold a candle to the original, though.
Liam Neeson needs to start being more selective in his movie roles. I understand that he's trying to stay busy after his wife's death, but there are bound to be better options out there for him than the ones he's been taking.
I thought it was cool that John C. Reilly could play a character that wasn't an idiot, even though he was pretty selfish in the beginning of the movie. If you haven't seen it yet, he's not trying to prove he's the good guy; he shoots his mouth off and has to put up or shut up. I also loved how dark some of the stuff that happened was. Once you actually find out what happened to a certain major character (and not the one who has it programmed into their background; that was kind of stereotypical), it brings back memories of Malificent calling on the power of Hell (said aloud, no less!) to kill the prince in "Sleeping Beauty", or the hyenas eating Scar alive in "The Lion King". It was certainly better than some of the other stuff that's come out of Disney's animation studio lately. I recommend it, especially to video game nerds that want an "inside look" at how games "work".
Also enjoyed Wreck-it Ralph. Just a fun movie for gamers and everyone else, too.
Last night saw The Sessions. While the subject matter is mature, the tone of the movie is pretty light. If there was a movie that just gave one a feeling of kindness, this would be it. And yeah, lots of naked Helen Hunt... but that's a mixed bag these days. She's not in Waterdance anymore.

About what I expected. Silly premise and lots of leap of logic, but cool 3D effects and a few decent scares. I think they did a really good job with the atmosphere and the costumes/makeup as well. I did like how they tied the story into the first one and gave more a firm conclusion for it. I thought it was going to be a totally separate story.
Great movie. I enjoyed it the entire way through. It's an excellent dark comedy, deconstructing the typical revenge/action flicks. I won't say it all comes together in the end, because that would imply that it wasn't together throughout the entire film, which is was. But the ending was just what I wanted it to be. As far as I could tell, there were no hanging threads, and I found that very satisfying.
I saw Home Alone 4... I mean Skyfall (if you've seen it you'll get the joke). I enjoyed it. Good actions scenes, good acting. I'll admit, I was looking for a twist that never happened.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.
Saw Wreck-It Ralph over the weekend with the lady.
A fun little movie, with a ton of little bonus tid-bits for gamers. Actually worth seeing in 3D, as it makes the movie feel like a ride. Not the most solid Disney title as of late, but certainly worth viewing if you're a fan of old-school gaming/Disney.
