I've got the opposite view. I'm all for Slutty Halloween Costumes. You should see mine!
Dude, I'm sure you're hot. Where's the pics?!
I'm actually bothered by the young 'uns far more than I am by the adults. From my experiences, I have seen this from grown adults overwhelmingly at parties more so than everywhere else. I see nothing wrong with it as long as the audience is appropriate.
It does bother the crap out of me when it's a fourteen year old though...
¢ When I was young, my ambition was to be one of the people who made a difference in this world. My hope still is to leave the world a little better for having been there - Jim Henson
I agree with this 100%. I'm a little bothered that Haloween, is in some places, is used as an excuse by some ladies (some younger than others) to dress in ways they never would normally. I would say, on the bright side though, that I don't really see this while trick or treating too often.
I just think it isn't particularly original. I told my wife that if she ever were to go the "slutty" route (she won't), I'd ask if she could be something completely mundane. Like a slutty insurance adjuster.
But, then again, I'm going this year as Sex Robot. Probably not the best guy to ask.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?
I just get tired of men constantly claiming foul when a woman is upset about a comment made about them, when the clothes they wear is enticing and revealing. It's like they're completely appalled by negative repercussions to what they're doing, when really, it shouldn't be that surprising. It also bothers me that they're so willing to blame it on someone else.
I guess I just fail to see the point of revealing clothing aside from garnering those reactions. ::shrug::

Meh. I just don't gawk at the under-agers!
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.
Good Morning fellow Ogres and readers. One day away from either having my ear drums lanced or tubes put in my ears. Im nervous for once.. As of Friday my pneumonia was clearing up but I had developed pleurisy and large amount of fluid built up in my center ear..

The way I see it, there's several different kinds of reactions. There's saying "Oooh, she's hot and looks good. I'm going to buy her a drink/chat her up/ask to take pictures." Or "Wow. What a slut. I'm going to call her that/take pictures up her skirt/harass her/rape her."
You can approach a woman who's dressed in revealing clothing like she's a fellow human being enjoying expressing her sexuality or you can approach her like she's an object for your enjoyment.

You're completely appalled when men are rude to women and there are negative repercussions. You're blaming the rudeness on the woman.
No, but I'd expect that a certain degree of that responsibility lies with the woman. And the comment doesn't have to be rude, even if its just complementing them.

Oh, definitely. I can't even come close to even OBJECTIVELY defending the meathead, "Mardi Gras is a license to take what I want like some kind of frat-boy Conan" thing. HATE those types, particularly since they'll adopt/shed their humanity when it suits them.

I wouldn't. I think the things you say are entirely your own responsibility. Now, she has some responsibility for "Is this an appropriate piece of clothing for the office?" but if she happens to make the wrong decision there, it's entirely your responsibility how you react to it.
To clarify, what sort of compliments are you thinking of? "That's a lovely shirt you're wearing." or "You look really hot."?

Complimenting her shirt.
I agree what you say is your responsibility. However, for a woman to act all huffy because someone gave her a cat call due to her low cut skirt and exposed midriff? Is she really surprised about that?
