On a phone, so I can't look it up to be positive, but I'm pretty sure prof. Xs power only works with other powers on his dial, so he can't use and gauantlet powers
Hey you know that guy Sentry/Void that everyone has been really scared of....
Well I got to play test him last night with RPGambit. We each took turns playing our best 300pt teams against him. We played a total of 11 games.
Sentry/Void went 0-11..... and some of the games were not even close.
He is great against most teams but I am sure that any good player will have no problem figuring out how to beat him.
Was S/V player even trying to avoid getting hit? S/V is only broken when played properly (basically using the double hypersonic to stick and move). There are some exceptions to this strategy, but going 0-11 against the modern meta tells me someone isn't doing something right. Other playtesters have proven this already.
Maybe you could share some of these teams with us, sir?
We've seen this wonderful claims in the past. Not by Boy Wonder there, but by others. The problem is that you rarely play in a tourney were EVERYONE else is playing the same team. Well, you might in this case I"m sure there is some combo or two that is super effective against S&V, but invariably it fails against just about every other team. Which makes it not a viable candidate to see in a tourney.
-I tell you this, no eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.
I have to apologize because I do not want list our teams as we are only a few weeks from worlds. However, I will say that both of us were trying very hard not only to avoid getting hit as S/V but also to make the most effective strikes.
And as I mentioned they were our best teams that we have, so they have been tested and proven against some of the best meta teams we could think of.
The only point of my previous post is that S/V is not unbeatable.... Hard yes. But once you crack him, he can be dealt with. Like the first man who ran a 5 minute mile. It is not impossible.
Things that worked:
Mind Control turn to Sentry and then Outwit
Hit him for 4 or 5 so it puts him on no move and attack.
Perplex his damage down by 2.
Use some kind of Lockdown (incap or other characters that can)
The Infinity Gauntlet. Having the IG evens the table.
Large Defense with multiple defensive abilities.

I understand the Worlds thing, mate. The things that you list that worked makes me a bit sceptical though, as most of them seem to require the hard part, which is drawing a bead on him. Still, the MC'ing him into Sentry is pretty brilliant, kudos for that!

Mind Control Shouldn't be that Effective Seeing as Catching him, Unless your using Prof. X is a challenge Plus your taking 3 damage for the MC.
Hitting anyone for 4 or 5 normally hurts them pretty bad.
Perplex ya that's cool but how are your Killing him/Making sure he doesn't get away.
The Incap thing won't work on different teams.
IG is a solid Idea, as long as Sentroid doesn't kill the Gauntlet Person Straight off.
This is Generic.
What I think we all want to know is how you caught him.
Right now the
GG Rare Dr. Strange IG
Witch
Astral
is the best team I have seen So far.
Other big Hitters will Probably do well against him, but will have worse match-ups against other teams.

So How Did You Catch Him?
Don't Need Figures, but how.
With all of the things that I mentioned that worked, it is more important to have a combo of multiple ways to beat him. Having a high defense and movement really helps and if you have the Space Gem that +2 is massively important.
I am not saying that it is easy, but it can be done. And WAS done 11 times last night. Both RPGambit and I hate to lose so we played as well as we could with S/V and he still went down. Admittedly his teams worked a bit better than mine however the result was the same.
If S/V is played defensively then you play defensively till you get to #2 or in some cases #3 on the IG. If you are going to MC then you need to make sure your MC piece is well protected as well and that you can get him/her close enough to make the action the turn after S/V clears from pushing.
TK (mind gem) helps with this as does Space Gem. If you have a combo of multiple ways to deal with him then he really is not that bad.
Remember he can not heal and has no prob control. But you do if you have the IG. If you have a high defense and are able to crack him down to the no move and attack clicks he is much less deadly. And always be churning that IG. If you can get to #2 he can be beat.

Against IG Sentroid needs to kill that figure as quick as Possible. Screw the Support, get rid of the IG Figure, With Multi-Attack Sentry should never allow them to get 2 or 3, barring SS and Attack Rolls.
