If Wal-Mart buys packs, that means UDE is selling packs. That means UDE is making money. That is a very good thing. When UDE is making money they can spend more money, that means a lot of things. Mainly it means PCQs can come back ...
The other thing facing this game right now in terms of Hobby Stores is that in their eyes the games already failed. Is it even possible to change their minds?
While I applaud UDE’s efforts to keep putting money into the game, I think these changes will pretty much end the VS game system. UDE has this belief that they will be able to create some casual player base for the game but the truth of the matter is most casual players are not casual by choice. They embrace that label because they are not good enough to compete on the professional level. You may hear cries of “We play because we love the art” or “we play because it is fun to be Spidey” but honestly every one of those people want to think that they have shot at the big money. But this game is so complex, that for most of the players, this is simply not a reality for them. And I speak from personal experience here.
This is wrong.
There are people who play CCGs because they are FUN and dont give a rats ### about the money. Some people do have good jobs and just want to play games to unwind. These people hate professional players like you. You're calling everyone that doesnt want to invest hundreds of hours into 'draft camp' etc stupid and incapable.
People like you are the reason the game is dying. No one wants to play with a dick. Anyone that just wants to play the game for fun can't do it around pro players because they just get crushed.
I dropped out of PC indy after round 2 to go play another game that I actually enjoy. My team won that PC. I passed on playing a deck that put 11 of the 12 people playing it into day 2 just so I could avoid people like you. I love playtesting this game. I love building decks for this game. People like you make me hate playing it.
Don't look down on people that just want to have a good time. We're not stupid, you're just unbearable to be around.

Seems good to me.
Wheres the market to buy these cards? If Walmart orders packs and then no one buys it you can forget about them ever ordering packs again, no matter how many people start playing.
Walmart sold packs here at one time. They sold out in a day! I know because I came back the next day and everything was gone. This included starters and packs of MOR, DOR, and MSM. I talked to managment about ordering them again. The answer I got was the distributor had to do this. I called the distributor and the reply was they couldn't do it anymore because thier supplies were going to hobby shops where they could make more profit. Thats right Walmart has to buy for a lower price to sell at a lower price.
So UDE doesn't get the full blame on this one. Unless they can sell directly to retail stores. I may buy packs from a retail store but the hobby shop will see money from me. Drafts, Deck Boxes, Tournament fees, Singles, and Sleeves.
I'd be very curious to hear how many people have played in a VS tournament over the last month, 3 months, 6 months, etc. Are there thousands of VS players? Where are they? Cause they sure aren't playing in NJ. We have as far as I can tell 2 hobby leagues in the state (and we're a rather populus state). 1 of them consistently gets less than 10. The other is a 90+ minute drive from me so I have no clue how the attendance is there. It just seems like there's not that many VS players out there to me.
I feel that this is good and bad. I can never make it to the PCQs/PCs. I can attend the HL so I'm happier. I feel bad for the people who can't get to a HL and only to the PCQs/PCs. But maybe you can start up a HL in a local store. I work at a locally owned shop, and we love to run the HL and not make money on the HL its-self. We hope that the players buy packs, snacks, soda, sleeves, and the what have you. I hope no one leaves VS but if you do i'll happily take the cards off your hand. LOL. But I love to play. Who cares what my rateing is? I'm in this game for fun, not to beat my friend or foe to a bloody pulp. That's when I start trying out for the UFC. I wish you all luck and remember the sun allways shines brighter after the rain.
- This is not connected to WOW. Yes, WOW is doing incredibly well in sales and we're lucky that WOW is selling extremely well in Europe as well.
However, Vs. System, WOW and Yu-Gi-Oh! are all independent games and they all stand on their own as products and receive as much support as we can afford to give them based on their individual sales.

This is just pathetic , All this 10 year talk , making it seem like they are going to add more money and tourneys to the scene . And then pull the complete 180 on everyone .
All they were doing was waiting until MTU was realeased to annouce this crap so people will buy the useless product still.
All I have to say is I know UDE's plan for the next 3 months ......
The new update will be , " this has nothing to do with WOW blah blah blah blah blah , but we decided to change the City Championships to once a year and it will be on December 25th , and we will have just one PC and the prize structure will be something like this .
1st place gets : MAC Laptop Computer. iPod Nano. VS system Used T-shirt. Magnificent Trophy made of the finest plastic. A booster box of MXM.
2nd place get : 3 packs of any set they want but this is subject to change as we can give any set we want and you will probly get MXM
Can someone help me out here? I live in a very Magic heavy area with only one other serious Vs player. I have constantly tried to get the people who play magic into Vs but I can't seem to make it stick. They seem to stick to it for a few weeks then quit because they don't get it. We used to run HL at our store but with only 2 players now it is kind of pointless. We have turned quite a few players on to WoW since then but we can't seem to get them to stay in Vs. What did you guys with a thriving local scene do to get it that way? I love the game and want to help out but I need some advice. Also please keep in mind that we are in northern WV and don't have any major cities to draw off of. Though I still can't believe that no one at WVU plays Vs.
I seriously think that En-kur had it right though when he said the game is too hard for most people. There are Magic players at the shop who go to every PTQ/GP/PT but can't translate that success to Vs and it aggravates them. I tried to get my friends who play casual magic to try Vs but they gave up after a few days too. (Though at the time it was MMK time and I only had Titans and Sentinels built) Is there anything to make the game easier for new players?

Business basics.
Divisions of large companies have anual budgets. Said budgets reflect each individual division's profitability as determined by the previous fiscal year. Each division's profitability does not affect the profitability of the other divisions, and thus each divisions budgets are determined independantly from one another. UDE is a huuge company.
Assuming that the sales and popularity in Wow translate into a smaller budget for VS is like believing A strong Pepsi sales year will diminish the budget for fritos. They're made by the same company, and both fall under the "junk food" category, but the budget of one has nothing to do with the budget of the other.
UDE is not in a position where they need to support either VS or Wow, as they could no doubt support both for a long time regardless of sales. Having said that, doing so would be a terrible idea, akin to deliberately driving into a tree. UDE would provide full support for both games provided both games returned their investment.
