I'm ranking it right there with X3. I think it's better than X3, but not by much. There were so many pointless things in the film. It felt like sheer laziness.
I disagree. I went in thinking it would suck. It was far from sucking. Sure I had nerdy nit picks, but it was a very well done movie overall.
Yeah, I put away about 90% of my fanboy feelings and enjoyed the movie. So I didn't nitpick about comic versus movie holes, continuity, or anything like that. I just focused on the historical backdrop and opposing sides with cool powers. Very easy to enjoy after that.

I was able to put my fanboy aside at times, and those parts I liked. But I couldn't give it the whole "Catwoman" treatment unfortunately. Magneto and Xavier's exchanges were well-done, I liked the plot of the film and felt it "believable" in the context it should be taken in. The character motivations were logical, the pacing, though slow a few times here and there, was excellent. The action sequences were executed nicely (save the wrestling between Xavier and Magneto at the end; it looked ridiculous).
So much of the changes were completely unnessessary.
Agreed, but I was pleasantly surprised how well they made those changes. Do I still hate Draco as a character? Yep, but he was handled well. Am I a huge fan of Angel? Nope, but again, they did a fine job with her.

SO it sounds like your main dislike was that it was different than the comics. Think of it as a What If...? That's what I do and it makes them a ton more enjoyable.

that's exactly what it is and what I've been stating from the start. The fanboy has won this time.
Though my critique of films is questionable at best since I enjoyed Halle Berry's "Catwoman."
I'll cut him some slack. Aside from Bullseye's costuming, I liked Daredevil and everyone said I was a moron for it.
Within the first five minutes of Daredevil, there's an exterior shot of a church and a CGI rat passes in front of the camera. I saw it in the theater with my cousin and both of us sat up and looked at each other in disbelief. We absolutely could not believe that they couldn't get a real rat. And it seems that we weren't the only ones to notice this. That, right there, killed the movie for me. No amount of Beniffer fisticuffs could save it.
