Saw Silver Lining Playbook last night. I am a fan of Russel and typically enjoy Bradley Cooper as a lead... and yeah, this movie is good. De Niro should be strongly considered for best supporting actor for this.
It was really entertaining and emotionally satisfying. Enjoy it with someone who makes you crazy.

I saw Skyfall on Saturday.
I was not as impressed by it as most others seem to be.
It was okay, but too over the top for my taste. Despite all his quirks the villain wasn't a real character.
Just watched The Amazing Spider-Man with the family. I had avoided this movie, as I thought I was going to be severely disappointed with it. To my surprise, I wasn't. I actually liked it. It was good, and maybe better than the original (can't stand Kirsten Dumbst, so Emma Stone was an infinite improvement). Actually looking forward to a second one should they make it.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........

ASM II is already in development and Jamie Foxx is Electro
Watched Collateral tonight. Love that movie. Can't believe that cop goes on to be the Hulk. He could not have a more different look as an actor between then and now.

I finally saw Amazing Spider-Man. Most of the movie just bored me, maybe because my knowledge of the source material made it transparent, maybe because it was too soon to retell the origin, maybe because the villain was really lackluster.
This version of Peter Parker really did not sit well with me - stealing milk, bullying other kids, showing off with his powers - it did not feel like Peter at all to me, but maybe that kind of behavior resonates more with the younger generation. Also, keep the mask on kid.
The best thing the movie had going for it was Gwen, and I found even bits about her background annoying. For instance, I can believe that a radioactive spider gives a kid powers, but a high school girl working after hours at the bio-pharma company giving tours like she's worked there for years? Huh? A spacious high rise apartment on a NY cop's salary? Wha?
And then, there was the crane operators.
Overall the film lacked heart for me. I'd trade Emma for Kirsten any day of the week, but Sam Raimi's work is still superior to me.
coming soon : nu52 Hercules

Mostly silly.
I consider myself a fan of the Bond movies, and I must say that I also was not as impressed with Skyfall as I was led to believe. It was definitely better than a majority of Bond films, but there was a lot of it that felt as if it was going through the motions.
As for emotional resonance...there is only one properly heartbroken Bond (OHMSS), and only one properly P*SSED Bomd (LtK). Every other attempt at an emotional Bond has really failed to resonate with me. I will hold Casino Royale responsible for my non-plus, because there was no way they were going to end it like the novel!
Sat down and watched The Descendants with my girlfriend, I gotta say....I didnt go in to the movie with much optimism. I knew it had decent reviews, but I didnt really care for any of the actor/actresses in it. I actually liked the movie, I thought the story was good overall and I liked George Clooney in this movie.
Finally got to see The Dark Knight Rises as well and all I need to say is EPIC! That movie blew me away and I am sad to see the trilogy end.
Watched Rise of the Guardians last night. Honestly, it wasn't too bad. It just didnd't have enough going on for me to consider it good. It had its moments, sure, but for me there just wasn't enough to the movie (despite a concept I thought fun) for me.

That's kinda my intuition about the movie, though I haven't seen it yet.
Anyway, finally saw the Hobbit last night, and it was amazing. Really, the fact that Peter Jackson integrated a lot of material outside the Hobbit of what was also happening at this time in Middle Earth was amazing. Frankly, this is how a prequel should be done.
Also, it was very hard not to think of Bilbo as Arthur Dent.
