Mummies are the most useless version of zombies. There is only ever one, it's "curse" is always ill defined and usual the person afflicted with is killed via their own stupidity which is already established by the fact they did something to make a mummy mad. Mummies just sit around around until some guy deserving of a Darwin award wakes them up, then they shamble after them at a pace a newborn could get away from. That means mummies are only useful if a stupid person is involved and that's a horrible origin story.
At least zombies have numbers.
Anybody could anger a mummy. It's most likely to happen if you despoil it's tomb, but you could end up accidentally opening a sarcophagus under a lot of circumstances. There's also the potential for generational mummy curses, where a mummy is after you for a reason that doesn't directly concern you.
Also, as I mentioned several times yesterday, mummies have a ton on zombies. They're sentient. Mummies are have minds, can plan, and have magic powers. Poorly defined magic powers, which as per horror rules are the scariest kind. If it needs to a mummy can teleport, transform, curse people all over the place, and summon minions. In other words, mummies can do all of the best stuff that Dracula can do.

It has serious balance issues (as does Heroclix, of course), but perhaps my biggest problem was that in a game where theme isn't as big a factor as Heroclix, underpowered figures will almost never see play for any reason. I owned a ton of figures that I never used and never really had any incentive to use because teams were ever only loosely thematic and the figures were bad. Why ever use a Werewolf Orderly when you could use a Dog Soldier?
I agree that the biggest thing it was lacking was support. Had it gotten support from Wizkids I think it would still be around. But it also badly needed the common/uncommon/rare/super rare rarity structure to cut down on the number of needlessly redundant versions of monsters. It got it at the end, but there were a lot of confusing and weak design choices in the last set too.

Well said/my point of view as well.
There are so many teams (Ghostfinders, Insects, etc.) who have NO chance of winning against even the likes of other "theme" teams like a werewolf team.
I'm so glad I waited until the game was dead and easy to pick up for cheap or, as a collector, I wouldn't have gotten HALF of the stuff that I got.
Oh, to a great degree I agree. That still doesn't mean it's not one of the more self-playing pieces.

This must be your bias showing. I only referenced him as All-Star Superman for purposes of clarity and accuracy. Were it not for the keyword choices I'd have just looked at the dial and thought it was intended to be a Silver Age era superman.

I agree. If I play Black Adam, it will be at his 100 point level because he just isn't good for 300, he's average at 200, and he's playable at 100. Just not a dial design I care for in the least. I also just finished painting my Superman into his new 52 costume. Repainting the shield on his back was tough since I'm a novice, but I got it done.
Pics of this new Superman?
I have an idea that I may put up on the Creative Corner. We used to do it back in my D&D Minis days. It was called the Common/Uncommon painting challenge. Basically you paint or mod a common or uncommon figure and post the pictures. At the end of the contest (I think two months to give everyone enough time), they randomly draw a few winners who got to pick from some prizes. There weren't any voting or anything so as to allow all skill levels to enter it and have a chance at winning. Thoughts?
It's like Michael Jordan going to the YMCA to play basketball.
Welcome Charlie (Charles William Cook)! Born 7/14/2011!
I don't think of myself as a huge horror fan but I do like a lot of horror movies.
Re: suspense vs. horror, to me they aren't mutually exclusive. Good Slasher pics are both.
Suspense! THAT's the other word I was searching for in the discussion. Thanks, without you I probably would have woken up at 2 am going "Suspense! That was the word!" and then not being able to fall back asleep.

Since I'm not a donor I can't post pictures of him. It's probably not worthy of being posted on here anyway. haha

The only mummies that ever do any of the things you mention are the ones that are wizards first, in which case wizards trump most anything. In reality, they are really Liches with Egyptian flare.

In reality, mummies are just very elaborate TP dispensers.

No, all monster mummies have magic powers, even if they weren't already magic when they died. It's the process that mummifies them that gives them powers.

Due to a great many years spent playing in White Wolf's World of Darkness, I have an intense respect for mummies. In a universe populated with vampires and demons and werewolves, mummies were the guys you *really* didn't want to annoy.
