I keep trying to figure out a scenario for Clix to play Sorry with Clix.
On the topic of collectible versus non-collectible, my experience for something which might be viewed as comparable is that I enjoy Quarriors more than I enjoy DiceMasters. Both are dice-building games.
I have the LotR DBG, too, but I've only gotten in a couple of games for it. My impression was that it was not as fun as Quarriors.

I was going to get the LotR one way back when, but I heard the rules were kinda messy.
I think Dicemasters is a really fun game, but I only played "friendly", where highlander was in effect and the opposing teams were somewhat balanced.
How in name of all that is holy would you play highlander in that?
Does that mean that if you roll two Gambits you can only field one? That would cripple the game, imo.

No, I mean as in if I have Spider-Man on my team, my opponent doesn't have him on their team.

How does that work? I'm guessing everyone brought backup team members in case you had to switch someone out? And how do you decide who gets to keep the characters that you're both using?

It would be interesting to draft DM in the same way I've done a draft with Quarriors.
Imagine it like this.
You have a deck with three versions of several characters.
Hulk, Spidey, Black Widow, Cap, Wolverine, Beast, etc.
Call the versions A, B, and C.
Shuffle the deck and deal out three cards face up.
The first play chooses one to play and one to discard. Any left are passed to the next guy.
Deal out cards to bring it back up to three.
Repeat this until everyone has 8 cards.
Once a character is chosen, it can no longer be chosen (and if it is dealt out again, discard it and deal a new one.
Example:
First deal:
Spidey (B)
Beast (A)
Nick Fury (C)
vlad picks the Spidey, discards the Beast, and passes the Nick Fury.
Two new cards are dealt
Next deal:
Nick Fury (C)
Cable (A)
Cyclops (A)
pizzaburger picks Cyke, discards Cable, and passes Nick.
Two new cards are dealt
Next deal:
Nick Fury (C)
Spidey (A)
Hulk (B)
Spidey was already chosen, so you discard it immediately and deal a card.
New deal:
Nick Fury (C)
Hulk (A)
Hulk (B)
Bud picks Hulk (A). This automatically sends Hulk (B) to the discard , so his only option for discard is Nick. None are left to pass.
Three new cards are dealt
Next deal:
Archangel (C)
She-Hulk (C)
Venom (C)
jwb picks She-Hulk....

Since it's friendly, there were enough characters between us that it wasn't a problem. Hey, you're using Wolverine? Let me borrow Magneto so I can make a cool villain team. I used Spider-Man this time? The next game you get him and I'll run Doc Ock.

This wasn't at a venue.
This is my favorite way to play most any game, especially Clix and X-Wing.
