It was an interesting game. The timing was bad for me, so I couldn't really get into it like I would have liked. I could've burned the one of the fake claims, but I felt it would have been unfair to my teammates that could have dedicated more time to the game. Which is why I never claimed anything when pressed.
Yeah, funny we never used the fake claims. Between the roles (mostly) not having any unique abilities and the two janitorings, there just wasn't much reason for anyone to name claim. All it would do is expose your weakness.
If I had known Mal was the professor, for instance, I would have attacked him physically with the axe, maybe lowered his threshold to 1. One the second to last day, I was desperately trying to figure out the town characters' stats. Should have done it several nights earlier.
Good game, town. Vlad, Bob, Rokk and Mal especially.
Grizz is likely the town MVP. He may not have played the best game overall but his part in killing Rorshach and his posts right before he died (confirming Roy) probably saved the town.

Gotta agree with this. Vlad and I were suspicious of him and Roy, but when he gave Vlad the Crystal Ball and confirmed Roy as Town that let us (ok, mostly Vlad) figure out the last two mafia. Unfortunately, he'd already been lynched.

Actually, I did claim as a man in white... so since you were the priest, it would be clear I was the prof.
I kept it vague so people unfamiliar with the game wouldn't key on it right away. But really, mental was the way to go against me thanks to the RT mask. Oof.

A great game. Like Kontrol, I too felt like I didn't commit as much time to this as I would have liked (holidays/work). Still, it was a lot of fun to play a game like this, and it appeared to be balanced. Nice win town
Very cool game Mags. Had fun. Grats to the winners, very well played, sad that Vlad could not get the win here.
My only minor gripes were the different voting types made it too easy to deflect IMO, and I didn't like the possibility of mass claiming ruining the game. Otherwise, great stuff for an experiment.

Yeah, I was super worried about this because there were no safe claims for the mafia. That's why I forbid any fake claiming until the mafia had at least one janitor claim available. It was the only way I could see out of it.
As for the different types of voting... It was an experiment. Not sure if I'd do it again.
In no order in particular, here are all the weapons available and what they did
Revolver - Limited PGO (would only attack one person a night, hurt not kill, unless stat was at 1)
Lucky Stone - All actions self guided and saved from one attack. This attack would destroy the stone.
Ring - Tracker. Could now attack mentally.
Amulet of the Ages - +1 to both stats. Encourager. -3 to both stats if weapon is lost.
Mask - Reverse Tracker. Using lowers mental stat.
Bell - Misdirector
Spirit Board - Tracker. Chance to misdirect monsters towards you.
Medical Kit - Doctor
Sacrificial Dagger - +2 when attacking or attacked. Permanently lowers mental when used.
Axe - +1 when attacking or attacked
Skull - Double Voter and Role Blocker
Crystal Ball - Cop. Lowers mental when used.
Holy Symbol - Cop. +1 to mental when received.
Dynamite - Free Night kill
Angel Feather - One shot any power except kill
Idol - Controlled Misdirect. Chance to hurt mental.
Healing Salve - One shot doctor. Doesn't disappear until successfully saving someone.
Smelling Salts - Ressurection
Spear - +2 when attackning or attacked
Bite - -1 to physical. No benefit.
Book - Reverse Tracker. +1 to mental when received.
Puzzle Box - Role Blocker. Can be exchanged for 2 different items.
Bottle - One random power (person had to pick number between 1 and 10)
Blood Dagger - +2 when attacking or attacked. Permanently lowers physical when used.
Pickpocket's Gloves - Steal an item from another player
Music Box - Jailkeeper. Chance to loose the item upon using it.
Armour - bodyguard with some kill resistance
Dark Dice - Random Power determined by dice role (only part of the whole game I'd have used dice for)
Adrenaline Shot - Max stats and 2 extra actions for a single night
Rabbit's Foot - Misdirector
Candle - Bus Driver
Medallion - Guide
All the important roles had copies (cop, tracker, etc) because I had to account for the possibility of the mafia finding them. I tried to make it that if the same role was granted by two items, one of them did a better job, to make the second less powerful (The Holy Symbol was better than the Crystal Ball, the Book was better than the Mask, The Ring was better than the Spirit Board, etc)
Yes it is based on a board game. A really good one. But as for family play, depends what you mean. There is a lot of reading and some adult content (violence, murder) so I'd say not great for kids. Super fun for adults though.

We're all 18 and up. I'll most definitely look into it. Thanks!

I'll second this.
I wouldn't recommend it for younger kids, but for older teenagers and above, it can be a lot of fun.

Something to keep in mind (and this is coming from a big fan of the game): it's not really balanced... like at all. It's a game that more about the experience than the competition. If your family is a cutthroat, win-focused bunch, it may not go over well. If they enjoy a game where crazy stuff happens even if they don't have much of a shot at winning (at times, I'm not saying every single game is this way), then they should enjoy it.
