I wouldn't say I'm in mid-life crisis mode but I have been on a tear lately to declutter the garage, closets, etc. The past few weekends I weeded out the DVD and CD collection. Shortly after Jan. 1, I got rid of old clothes that don't fit or never wear and books that I've already read but don't care to keep. Goodwill has been getting quite a bit of stuff from us lately.
I got rid of the majority of my Clix collection a few years back and still purge it periodically of stuff that I don't want/use. Now I'm just collecting figures for specific teams. The Mister Miracle/Big Barda Justice League lineups, for example.
I've played, like, one game of X-Wing in the past six months so I'm eliminating some of the ships I don't want and sticking only to stuff that's appeared in the films. I've used the Outrider once and I've never run E-Wings. And I don't need two Sabine's TIEs. The new Rebel bomber is a tempting purchase but not if my playing time ends up being sparse.
Cutting down the comic collection is going to be a bit tougher and time-consuming, though. What I can't sell, I'll donate to the children's hospital, schools or the Ronald McDonald House.
Have you considered keeping mice as pets as they're not as powerful?
That being said, I am inches away from selling all of my Marvel clix which is every clix out there up until the Deadpool set. All non-DC clix are going too.
I'm in full blown mid-life crisis mode. What's important to me is changing daily. I don't want to be burdened with a nerd collection that requires a whole house to store.
I thought about keeping one version of each Marvel character but that's too much to collate, consider, maintain, store. It all goes.
Honestly, I'd almost like to be free of the DC clix as well, but I love Kite Man, Killer Moth, and Eclipso just too much.
I'm also going to purge nearly every comic book, statue, and toy. Its too much. I can't take it with me. I don't want my loved ones when I die sitting in a pile of my crap not knowing what's valuable and what isn't.
Basically, I am only keeping my DC clix, X-Wing, a collection of DC archive editions and two small 40K armies. Everything else in my life is on the chopping block.
So, you better go back to your bars, your temples, your massage parlors...

I'm trying to convince myself I do not need cases or boxes for my DVDs and that a big album works. But the nerd in me wants all those Superfriends boxes.

I recently did a collection cull on some toys. burned close to 20 dc classics figures on ebay and used some of that money to get started collecting the vintage super powers figures.
Still thinking of liquidating the clix as best i can.

Well the bank won't give me credit because i'm a bad risk and I don't pay my bills on time. So I have to work for what I have!
I learned how to use the super sweet new laminator by myself at the elementary school today!! I laminated 2 science posters and when nobody else was around, did 3 heroclix maps. Even though I rarely play anymore, I think I only have about 5 maps that aren't laminated out of all the DC and Marvel and CL's and Grid reality Maps of the past 12 years or so. WTF I am ever going to do with those I have no idea.
But now I can have really sweet laminated maps to not use!!
