Anyone see the new Hellboy movie? I know people who did.
Person 1 really liked it, and is pressing me to see it. He's very familiar with the comics, and thought the movie did a great job of sticking to the source material.
Person 2 kinda liked it. He's familiar with the comics, but hasn't read very many of them. He missed the Guillermo del Toro style of the original movies.
All of our movie watching has been on Netflix until we are able to get some reliable babysitters of some sort. Not going to lie, I don't miss going to movie theaters. My TV and sound system has been very nice to us and there are no D-bags talking or using their phones during the movie. Popcorn is cheaper, candy selection is better, I can drink beer and eat whatever meal I want too! Pants optional of course.

I agree with most of what you say, in that the home movie experience is fantastic.
However, the theaters I go to kick you out if your cell phone is on, the seats are super comfortable, you get assigned seating, and the screen and sound are fantastic. The food is still outrageous, though. So for the most part, I'm still having good theater experiences.
Also, because of more people not going to the movies as much, I have situations like when I saw Shazam. I think there were 7 other people in the theater. I was probably the loudest person with my laughing.

I know I am feeling old because of this assigned seating thing as well as going back up to a decade ago to getting tickets far in advance. I really don't get how they are making going to the movies an event or experience similar to going to a concert. When I would go to a concert and spent $10 - $200 a ticket I always thought I got my money's worth. When I go to a movie now to spend ~$20 on a ticket I don't feel like I am ever getting my money's worth. So why is an event like a concert so much worth it than going to a movie? I never am sure.

I never thought of going to a movie the equivalent of going to a concert. Concerts are interactive. You sing a long, you head bang, you dance, you shout at your friends. Movies are quiet and immersive.

That kind of goes along with my qualms of making going to the movies an event. I was comparing it to a concert because a concert you NEED to get a ticket in advance, may want preferential seating --or-- at least get there early so you can be in front of the stage, and other things that a movie/theater is trying to do.
The biggest difference is that a CD and concert are so different. However, popping in a DVD compared to going to the theater is 9 out of 10 essentially a better experience when done at home.

I have not seen it yet, although I am interested. The reviews have generally not been favorable, so my friend and I are going to wait to see it.
There are two movie theaters near me, owned by the same business. The newer one shows movies when they first come out, at full price. The older theater picks them up after their run in the new theater, and has reduced ticket prices. The newer theater does have more comfortable seats, and also has 3d showings, which the older one does not.
I have a rough ranking system for priority for seeing new movies that generally goes New theater>old theater>wait until on dvd/streaming>wait until on tv.
All that is a long way of saying that Hellboy was initially a "see in the new theater" movie that got downgraded to "see in the old theater" based on scathing reviews.

I have a similar viewing system. For me it was "wait to see Hellboy at home", but now because of my friends it's become "possibly see it in the theaters".
I know very few, if any, of the old LPCers still play clix, or collect them, but last week I pulled a Captain Marvel Chase from the gravity feed and the Murder Machine chase from a Rebirth booster within a day of each other. Was pretty jonesed, but would totally trade either , esp the Murder Machine.

Congrats on the pulls!
I don't have the opportunity to get out to play clix. I am playing MArvel Puzzle Quest on my phone, which gives me my dose of super hero enjoyment and mixes it with a color matching game like Columns. You guys ever play MPQ or Columns?

I don't think I've ever played MPQ.
Did they have Columns on the old Sega Genesis? I think I played that.
