Jeez, over 50 reviews for X-Men on Rotten Tomatoes so far, and only a single negative review.
And then I see ABF's lackluster feelings on Twitter.
I have no idea what to expect with this flick!
Well, I scored 2 free tix to go see X-Men First Class. Figure that for free all I have to lose is 2 hours of my life. I'm gonna try to go this weekend.
This is how you get free tix. This week, the X-Men movie Blu-rays are on sale for $7.99 each at Best Buy. Each Blu-ray has a sticker with a code that you can redeem for up to $12 in "movie cash" towards X-Men First Class. I bought X-2 and The Last Stand. At $7.99 each, plus free tix to XMFC, what is there not to like? Anyhow, just thought that I'd pass on the info to you all.

I find I've been like that with nearly everything since I had kids.
Ditto. Except that I have been a fan of BSG for years and viewed the series when it originally aired. Still one of my all-time favorite TV shows.
(I have been doing quite a lot of catch-up on other shows thanks to Netflix, though...)

It's not bad, it's good, it's fine. [/Rihanna] There's no reason why you wouldn't give it "Fresh" status on Rotten Tomatoes. (Which is why I dislike RT, because it's a democratic representation, but doesn't actually represent that much, only superficially whether a film is good or bad.)
It was stunning in parts. Particularly the relationship between Charles/Mystique/Erik. Mystique still remains the best damn thing about the X-films. And love Magneto. [considering I'm more pro-Magneto/Malcolm X than Charles Xavier/Martin Luther King.] The last scene of the film is too much for me.
There just always feels there's an X-factor (no pun intended) missing with the X-Men films. The dialogue often feels stilted -- hinging upon cliche and one-liners -- and it always seems to be more about "wow look at the amazing cool powers this person can do!" rather than expanding on their personality. (That said, there are gems, like Iceman's "coming out" scene. And Rogue is stunningly presented.)
And I hate pointlessly not making Moira Scottish, and Banshee Irish. It's like they used Cerebro, but only got the mutants which were in New York state, lol.
I just wish I or Darren Aronofsky had directed it (lol).
[Literally just imagine an Astral Plane film, directed by Aronofsky. Come on Psylocke, you're going to become a drug addict / stab yourself, in order to get the upper hand over Shadow King.]

While the first three were fun (1 and 2 mroeso than 3), I agree that less flashy characters/effects and more characterization would help the series.
