Incidentally, with the proliferation (allegedly) of Shiro/SA-001 armies, is there mileage in a CJF/Liao army?
With the exception of Yami, the Shiros are vulnerable to one or the other. As are the Sylphs so essential to that army.
I've been wondering about the Liao MHI AA and whether it's viable to build a force around it. Not put too much effort in yet but it has a decent attack and decent damage against green units.

What sort of combination were you thinking about? CJF Long Tom for the AP combined with a Liao mech with ECM native?
I haven't actually seen an SA-001 army built around a Shiro yet... doesn't mean it's not good. I just haven't seen it. I'd run it, but I'm strictly against running Shiros for now. :)
Or something like that. Now he owns a DF Sylph (yes I gave it to him, guilty as charged, m'lud) it may get a tweak.
Now you'd think the SA-001 would be fragile but it's amazing how intimidating a 23" assault move for 5 damage is, sat in the middle of the table behind blocking. :)
The key I think is to remove the "eye in the sky". Hence the MHI AA. A SH Aesir works too but I thought the Liao MHI actually has some hurt potential for the green Kaminari and green Shock Troopers too.
Yami/Tadashi lasted one week. The following week having overheard the other BM say "I was going to field that next week" everyone brought Electronic Camo. Unfortunately SA-001 came out to play instead of Tadashi's super-streaks.

I was thinking of getting a bit more up-close and personal. Gnomes or Elementals dropped from a Sprint in the rear arc stand a decent chance of knocking the Elite Shiro out of its armor, dealing 3 ArP. Against Kaminari you can stick with the MHI (which will do just the 3 - with the first shot) or else use the Fulcrum.

Clearly, we have the perfect mech for this. Agility, speed. Yes, we need Flavio.
LOL. If someone (anyone) can make Flavio into the "answer" to anything (apart from "What's the most worthless hunk of plastic you own?") they deserve a medal.

I have also seen variations of the SA-001 armies w/o the sylph. Instead, the armies had cheap harassers (DF ATVs or SC Saxons) as spotters. It does use an extra order, so it's not as efficient.

Considering the Shiro comprises 70% (ish) of the points in the force and another 6.7% has gone on the alliance, countering it should be easy. Take down the Shiro! After that all you have to worry about is harassers and I've yet to see 100-120 points of harassers that can eliminate 300 points or so.
I posted this build over the theminiwar.com forums, but I figured you guys would enjoy it too.

I really thought about trying to fit it in a DF Mongoose with Evade/Grapple for "Court Jester" duties, as my buddy Mike puts it, but it just didn't work out. Maybe in 600.
Okay, so let's review: How many of you have actually played with the DF Glory? Holy ####, that is a fantastic piece. Here's the tactics:
Your Turn 1: Move DF Glory into base contact with single enemy infantry without easy breakaways (try and avoid LI ATVs), and within 10" range of whatever it is you wanna shoot at.
Opponent Turn 1: Opponent attempts to shoot at DF Glory's 24 defense (thanks to Friendly Fire) or 22 if he succeeds breakaway.
Your Turn 2: Declare a called shot, targeting the infantry you based on turn 1, and whatever unit you moved to within 10" of. Now you have no attack modifier! Ha!
Anywho, the Glorys move in formation with the R10, protecting its 2" minimum range. You can use the Glorys to clear basers off the the R10, as well as its own 3 dmg ballistic shot. Your transports are all tertiary hammers behind the tanks, by virtue of their 9 attack/3 dmg profile. Run the TrackBikes in against a 'Mech that's running hot, forcing it to a.) break away, risking more heat, or b.) hold still and cool, risking a 12IT/2 ArP shot. The Shock Troopers can serve as hail-mary capturemonkeys and formation helpers and harassers and whatever.
Let's see...how would one fight a super-Swordsworn army like this?
Based around:
3x SSw Arrow IV Artillery Tanks -- 153 points
3x SSw Paladin Defense Systems -- 246 points
Well there's 399 points already out of a 600 point total.
I was thinking fighting fire with fire and maybe using my hordes of LI Arrow IV's and ATV Squads...
ah ####! I mean to say fight a SUPER-Swordsworn-ARTILLERY army like this and still be combact-effective against other types of armies at the tournament scene.
