Well, my apartment doesn't really HAVE a basement, it's on the ground floor though, which is the lowest... so I guess maybe I live in my own basement, technically?

Though, in full disclosure, when I visit my parents, the guest area is in the basement, so on those occasions I do dwell there.

Don't really know why, but the entire Saturate album from Breaking Benjamin is pretty much all I listen to out here. A lot of it probably has to do with the line, "There's no place like home," (yes, that song is influenced heavily by Wizard of Oz) but ultimately, I can feel the struggle that Benjamin had back then, and while not relating to it completely, still understanding struggle in my own unique way, and sharing pain with Benjamin.

I may be less than a month from home, but I have been feeling super down just about the entire time I've been out here, and it's only gotten worse. I hope this breaks when I'm home, because this is not a pleasant feeling.

So my wife met with her emploýer and the union yesterday. They pretty much agreed it was a case of wrongful termination, so she's getting time off with full pay at least September out, and they will do their best to find a suitable new position for her. So pretty much the best possible outcome at this point.

Make sure that you take care of your mental, emotional, and physical health, dude. Too many cases of vets coming back from overseas who are not being given the right medical attention and then get lost in the system. Not saying that you're chronically depressed or anything. Heck, I can't even relate to being in the military and in a war zone so far from home. Still, just take care of yourself and hopefully all will be well.

(BTW, all you young whippersnappers... I don't even listen to the radio these days but I have an iPod filled with oldies but goodies that I carry around. Awesome Mix Vol. 1 is my most recent purchase, so as you can guess I am not in the loop with modern music. Though I do know Daft Punk from the TRON Legacy soundtrack.)
