I enjoy having a regular Game Night group. It is relatively inexpensive, especially if you have the games and do not plan on drinking during (I’m fine with or without). However, my friend that usually hosts Game Night is very competitive and will do his best to plan out his starategy for games before we even play a game. I like to bring different games to keep him on his toes.
I mean, I love winning as much as the next person, but I would rather play more thematically and lose than the opposite. For example, I would rather play a full team of X-Men and try to win, whereas my friend would try and win without having any sort of cohesion in his team and just play purely meta characters. Just personal preference I guess. My girlfriend isn't really into the really thematic games like Setters of Catan, Betrayal, or Dead of Winter. She will usually sit out if we play one of those. I’m still trying to decide if that’s a good or a bad thing
Your GF sounds like good people to me!

She at least will play Scrabble, Monopoly, and Euchre (for those who know what it is). Works well enough for me!
My wife refuses to play Euchre. She can't keep the jacks straight.

Aww, Settlers isn't bad. Yes, it's overdone and people think that it's a gamer's game, but it's not bad. Betrayal can be good, sometimes. Dead of Winter, I agree. Though I'd rather play DoW than Sentinels of the Multiverse.
I’m actually really worn out on Dead of Winter. I don’t think I will ever get sick of Settlers of Catan, though. I’m also a big fan of 7 Wonders.
I would really like to get involved in the Arkham Horror games, but I’ve heard they are a drag if you don’t play with someone that has played before. Terraforming Mars and Dinosaur Island both peak my interest as well.

I'm not going to say X game is bad, because different strokes and all that. But I don't like Settlers at all these days. I overplayed the hell out of it, and now the game is so formulaic for me that it's boring. Always put your settlements *here*. Always go for *resources*. Trade 4:1, then 3:1, and ignore everyone else because they won't trade anyways as soon as they see that you're in the dominant position. Then the tempers flare up, and my interest nosedives.
Like I said, different strokes. I used to love that game. Ruined it for myself, really.

7 Wonders will always be good stuff.
Arkham Horror and other FF board games suffer from poorly written rulebooks and an abundance of fiddly bits. They're fun games once you get past that, but it's a hurdle lots of gamers get frustrated with.
To that end, I heavily recommend Mansions of Madness and X-Com, as they use an app you can load onto a tablet, and especially in X-Com's case, the app just tells you how to play the game.
Also Mansions of Madness scratches a lot of the Arkham Horror itches, in particular. I think it's a lot more fun and much faster to set up and play.

I've played Terraforming Mars. I liked it a lot. it reminds me the most of Lords of Water Deep, but it's less worker placement and more resource management.
Good game.

Go play Terraforming Mars. It's awesome. Very awesome. I'm comically bad at it, but it's awesome. After that, go play Scythe, Orleans, Great Western Trail, and Caverna. Then you'll get your advanced degree in worker placement/resource management/engine building games. Oh, and play 7 Wonders too, tis excellent.

Definitely want to get that, as it is on my short list. Just got the new Civ game and am eager to try that out.

There is a itch.io game that it's like single player arkham horror but switch lovecraft for jinji ito
And that has been scratching that itch for me https://panstas.itch.io/world-of-horror
I moved to Medford from Locust Grove, Oklahoma to be with Kedryn. Best move I ever made.
Nice! I miss New England (grew up in NH), a lot of my friends and all of my family still live there so I get back at least once a year. Now I live in Southern California... so at least the weather is a bit nicer haha.
So, I know that we just had all of this talk about selling collections and such. I have been meaning to do so for awhile, but Wizkids has done something terrible. Why on Earth are they releasing DCAU sets?!? A Batman: The Animated Series set is something I’ve been wanting for years! It looks like a Justice League set is coming too.
Really trying not to pay attention to it so that I don’t wind up paying money towards it.

Don't think of it as DCAU if it helps. Think of it as Yet Another Bat-Set because that's really all we can put out for DC lately.
Seriously, I like Batman, but this is getting old FAST.
